When you are ahead, you can pace yourself and have better tyre life when you need it.

The leader always intentionally creates a massive DRS train unless the team is 1-2, in which case the driver in p2 backs the field up instead.

If the leader is backing up the field it's even harder as any undercut will cost time in the traffic on the outlap

It seems the car is there to finally fight for pole, but the team need to do everything correct.

Carlos need to be up front for the team to secure a win. An untimely safety car can undo any and all hard work over the weekend, and a lucky guy like Stroll gets his first win.

Carlos has got some pretty good results here in Monaco, but pace wise he is not that strong compared to Charles. 2021 he was 0.3s slower than Charles in quali, 2022 the gap was 0.2s (would be .7s/.8s if lec could finish his second push lap) , and last year with a car suiting his driving style he was still 0.15s off the pace.

Sainz's run was very strong, time kept going down and down into the 14.9s. Max came out and said he's not even thinking of catching Ferrari this weekend as the RBR deals terribly with the changes in chamber and the bumps. Dare I get optimistic...

Charles long run wasn't good. Drove straight in Sainte Devoute, missed the apex in Nouvelle three times, lots of traffic and the car looked like i didn't have much grip.

Pushed a lot harder in the push laps earlier on those mediums, Sainz time's one mediums were far off from Leclerc so that was probably the cause
