They turned it up for final run and gap was more like 2 tenths which seems realistic and about what I expected in quali. Sf-24 in this track is at home with its setup

final runs with equal power but run later in the session (so better conditions) and RB holds itself against Ferrari only in the high speed. Image

Leclerc keeps blipping the throttle in the swimming pool chicane. He's the only driver who does that and it seems to be gaining him so much time. I wonder if he can get extra exit speed or something out of bipping the throttle after hitting the sausage kerb to get some extra rotation with only the front right on the ground.

This is going to be an amazing Qualifying. I expect 1 red flag per Q session.

I also expect Leclerc will bin it in Q3, and Carlos will take pole.

Let's go!

As was said yesterday, LEC was given the full power only today.

if he is the only driver doing that, chances are that is not a good Idea. because I don't think 19 other drivers are just stupid idiots. and he was slower there than say max. surely he's not gaining "so much time".

Are we reading different graphs? He has higher entry speed, gets on the brakes later, carrier more speed into the chicane, blips the throttle mid corner and gets on the throttle out of the corner earlier than Verstappen, with acceleration out of the chicane being roughly the same. He absolutely gains a boatload of time.

Wonder if the poleman can go below 1.10s. Hamilton did 1.10.1 in 2019 with a yellow S3 (little moment at la Rascasse)

I should remind everyone that the graphs are only from second hand screen grabs or other data. The points have A LOT of noise in them. It's not a good idea to take the dirty data as being accurate.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if anyone goes below mid 10s

I was confident about it yesterday, but unless the track cools down to friday temps I doubt they will have enough tyre life left in S3 to go into the 1:09s.
