Judging by f1-tempo telemetry, SF24 beat RB20 by 2kmh on overall Top Speed out of the tunnel in Q3. No doubt this is the result of Imola bodywork spec drag improvement. Think this is also the first time Ferrari was better with both cars on exactly the same wing level in this reg cycle, last year they were dead even in Monaco.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Theres more to it than the drag.

I knew this wasn't going to be easy.
Nope, and a better lap from Piastri might well have made it really close. That Mclaren is serious. It has such an incredible reactive front end nowadays, which helps a lot anywhere, but especially here. Leclerc made the difference, cuz by all accounts Sainz sounded quite happy with his lap.

I am a Sir Lewis Hamilton fan first but Leclerc fan second (good that they're both together next year). Great lap by him and I think getting this win would feel like a massive brick being taken off his chest

They need to be on their A Game tomorrow and use Sainz strategically as best they can :-k

Like..?

Even with more aggressive deployment from either I would've thought they'd reach representative top speeds by the time they're out of the tunnel :?: :?: :-k

I fear a Singapore 2019 tomorrow even if the undercut is way less powerful on this track. Ferrari might need to pit Carlos first to protect him of a potential undercut and you know what can happen in these situation. Kimi experienced it in 2017, starting from pole. So I also think Piastri or even Norris can do something

Tomorrow we need to see team orders. Carlos needs to back the pack and let Charles fly.

Charles did it for him in Singapore last year.
Let's see if the fact that Carlos has been let go becomes a factor.

What a performance by the king of Monaco and what a car. Nice effort by the team overall and good thing Sainz didn't get a penalty. Now please bring it home tomorrow. Forza Ferrari! :)

I wanna say that LEC's race engineer is magnificent. His reporting of traffic is impeccable. Great lap from LEC, really on the limit in S1 to get that time.
Agree, the reporting by Bryan is on the point.

Btw, the pole lap was faster than in 2021 and only a tenth slower than in 2019. That's impressive.

Would you say that is one of the weakest aspects of the new car? Being less aero efficient that is..

In Imola wing level was different from RB and McLaren, so we can't compare directly. Here in Monaco you can agrue Ferrari has better efficiency, but with bigger ride height the floor works differently from regular tracks and most likely generates less drag than usual.

These 3 cars seem to be so close right now, tyre treatment and overall setup will make the difference in the next few races I think, more than outright downforce or drag levels.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

They said they were going to use the one they changed in Monaco, so it's got some kind of error again.
Are we going to use the 4th set of PU in Canada?
No. They fitted him again with Miami PU but there were problema again with this same engine so the refitted with the one he used from Imola onwards
according to the AmuS article about it, the PU from Miami will only return for Canada. The problem here was with engine #3, so they went back to the one from Bahrain.

Power isn't as important in Monaco, of course, but it could still partly explain why Leclerc lost ground compared to the sessions before, I guess.
