It'd be nice if we understood what that distance delta was relative to...

Distance at 150kph - probably speed around the breaking point for T1 on race start. Looks like it is impossible to overtake at start using the tyre delta. Even if Leclerc started on hards and Piastri on softs, the difference is too small.
The only way to overtake at start is if the other car goes into anti stall or something ...

The best thing to do for Oscar is to cover 2nd and be close to Leclerc making him damage his tyres defending or at least keep him in a small distance of 2 seconds maximum so he can keep his tyres.

"Pirelli’s data suggests that, from 0-150km/h the soft has a 3.17m advantage over the Medium and a 5.40m advantage over the Hard. The staggered F1 grid has rows 16m apart, meaning an 8m gap between cars."

Yeah. Maybe if Leclerc has his Monaco luck.

There is also the possibility of Leclerc botching his start. In any case good luck to both of our drivers. Forza Mclaren and let's give it our all to get victory here.

I just hope Piastri can stay on Leclercs gearbox at least until the pitstops. Let's make him work for it. I am quite optimistic this can be done - I think our pace in the race will be excellent.

If Carlos backs everyone up, you get P3-P20 covered in ~10 seconds, with the front two way ahead. If you pit with that gap, you get around 10 seconds of clear air and perhaps even more if people from that slow group start pitting as well.

It's risky though because there's no guarantee Carlos will play that game. He will most likely not do that, because it probably means he loses the podium.
I will say this, I hope McLaren will not decide to start on soft tires. My heart will either fail or I will have a nervous breakdown. :D
Positions are set in stone in this damn track after quali. Doesn't hurt trying some random thing and hope it sticks.
That's why it helps to go long, start on Hards rather than waste the pace of the tyres behind people managing the lap times to benefit their deg. This assumes they start on Meds. If they start on Hards then I'd take softs, but we don't know that.

Distance to, not at. So how long did it Take each to get to 150kph is important as if it takes 100m then the numbers are worth half than if it took 50m.
