The track did get darker and temps drop it seems. Alonso took the last of the sunshine before the clouds came.

Well for the race tomorrow, I do fear Max and Lando are the true leaders on race pace here.
George, Max into turn 1 is an accident waiting to happen. Lando is no threat, he will step aside for Max.

Not sure how much Lewis can recover from P-7. He has Lando, Piastri, Riciardo, Alonso to fight through. Will be a busy race for Lewis!
Mercedes can get on the podium with at least 1 car.
I don’t like this kind of talk, if Norris gets a good getaway and is in a position he will try. It just all depends how everyone gets away.

McLaren can still win tomorrow and have two drivers up there.

Pole gets into T1 in first normally here , so we shall see how good the race pace of the frontrunners shakes out.

Aye, Max and George in the gravel is a distinct possibility. George won’t concede as readily as Norris and Leclerc have tended to.

Max had that pole. George went through the last chicane a little better, but was mostly saved by the tow. Max was leading everywhere else.

Magnificent qualy session by the way. One of the best for a few seasons now.

Vasseur just interjected and told Villaneuve "well you're often wrong..." Lololol. Something he isn't told enough

Everyone else that set laps at the same time as max struggled to improve, including Russell who went 25 hundredths slower than his used tyre run. Perhaps without the tow that 25 hundredths deficit of Russell to max is representative

F1Tv had a good screenshot of the telemetry. Max was ahead until turn 6/7. But max had to get out the throttle which lost any advantage. Got some time back at the chicane, but Russell got a tow up the last straight.

Same time, tonnes of differences in the lap

In fact, few people talk about the fact that Merc should have been quite calmly first with an advantage over Verstappen by 0.2 tenths; it seems to me that many did not appreciate how Merc, with updates, smoothly returned to the group of leaders

Well done to Russel for beating his team mate to pole. Now the pressure will be on him to have a good start tomorrow as Max be aggressive going into turn 1.

Both Mclarens will be quick for sure, and those behind Ric will have to find a way to pass him in the first corner, how else the front runners are going to slip away.

In fact, Max would not have taken pole if the Merc team had prepared its drivers better, Merc would have been about 0.2 ahead of Verstappen, Russell's time in Q2 was 11.7

Marko was talking about it on German Sky as well. He said that Verstappen's out lap was too quick, and he paid for it in the final sector.

Alonso and ric should be easy. We'll see how he can get by the mclarens but probably he can get 1 of them. Afterwards it's just max...

I'm really getting shades of 2010 here. So many different teams and drivers in the mix, but generally pretty poor races. Overall a huge step up from mid-late 2022 and 2023 however. I'm now seriously excited for every race in a way I wasn't in 2023.

Could be. Not much reference yet and also the pressure was on.
