Merc race pace nothing to write home about. RB looks fastest with McLaren/Ferrari a little off.
Huh how did you come to that conclusion? are we watching the same free practice? Redbull seems nowhere and Max does not like the current balance. Not that it means anything substantial, but Lewis had more fuel judging the number of attempts he did compared to the Mclaren boys or Sainz and Max for instance.

Norris seems the man to beat judging from this FP.

Yes, and Hamilton pretty close. Max a few tenths off.

How so?
did i miss something? Lewis did the longest runs on soft and seems pretty consistent and faster according to Bono whereas Lando did a shorter run and then switched to mediums for another shorter run (4/5 laps)

Marko sounded fairly confident on German Sky. They weren't as far off as the past weeks, and running low engine modes. Setup wasn't ideal, but okay on the longrun, and to improve it, they needed to fix change rear wing, which would have cost them 20 minutes. Focus is on Sunday, when conditions will be cooler.

Not sure Red Bull ran low engine modes the entire session. Verstappen hit 327kph down the main straight and 310kph down the back straight.

Perhaps in the race sims, but not during flying laps.

I definitely think they'll be up there come qualifying/race though.

He ran their medium load RW which was the reason for ridiculous speeds compared to others

Looks like Norris eased his softs in and piastri drilled his perhaps simulating an undercut which cooked them. Overall though Ferrari and McLaren looks fairly close

RB ran mediums so hard to judge

As a rule of thumb, RB always run detuned on Fridays. Fuel load is harder to gauge.

Wouldn't make sense to run a low engine mode cause these are the closest condition to quali one can get i bet the top 4 are running similar engine modes
