This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Got the position off Norris at start, and importantly got the overtake done on Russell when it was needed. Any driver will need to up their game a bit to beat Max in a WDC fight.
This is what you get with Max. Clinical start (I prefer when he starts P2 just to watch the start) and a decisive overtake on Russell that Norris couldn't replicate with a faster car. Anyone can do fast laps in a fast car. To actually beat Max in a close battle, you have to be superior in all of the technical aspects of racing (starts, restarts, inlaps, outlaps, following, decisive overtakes, consistency) and well, Max doesn't leave any margin for anyone else to be better.
Sidenote, this "major upgrade" needs to be f***ing mega. That Mclaren is ridiculous.
Mega from Max, sneaking wins while his team mate is dossing about in lower positions . To me Max doesn't have any weaknesses and he's been able to show his class when other teams are close . As a Ham fan he's been a joy to watch from the outside. His bluntness is a breath of fresh air aswell
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know how it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”
It is really crucial what Max is doing right now. He is leading Norris by 69pts, but he just stole two victories that would not have belonged to him.
Without those the difference would only be 41pts.
He will really need this margin and similar stellar races, unless Red Bull can turn this around with upgrades.
The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

Considering the rate of development of McLaren currently and their 3rd position in WCC with upcoming redistribution of ATR allowance, losing title fights is a very real possibility if the silverstone package does not deliver a significant gain.
Not sure how much a flexi front wing could bring when it does arrive (hopefully before the summer break?) but surely we're talking about a tenth maybe two at most. That won't be enough and it's certainly not a magic bullet
