Miles off it. Maybe thats to be expected but still.

3rd and 4th could have been 5th and 6th if the number 2's did their thing properly.

All credit to McLaren for what they have built.
While Mclaren and Red Bull are definitely faster i dont think the gap is as big as the time sheets shows, Lewis was told by Bono to go into tire management right after he passed Russell, he asked Bono the times Lando was doing and seems like he just didnt bothered to push cause he would have never passed him and he didnt have to worry about Russell behind him
It’s massive bud don’t kid yourself. Too much emphasis gets placed on quali pace, we’re waaay down on race pace. Without a gimmick, like rain or SC we’ve no chance. If they (McL or Rb) get past, they show a clean pair of heels
Team ANTI-HYPE. Prove it, then I’ll anoint you.

Lewis saying his side of the garage talked about tires before the race and the hard tire was never an option for him.

Lewis race was vintage. He made some great moves including aggressive but perfectly judged overtake on Sainz.

Lewis also just said in the interview and cooldown room he doesnt think the gap is as big as it shows, said had he not had a bad start, but doesnt think he would have held onto to Max and Lando

Russel didn't do much wrong, and had a good fight with Norris.
He was a bottleneck on the first stint. The strategy given to him was a function of his outright speed IMO, they cleared RUS right out of the way on that 2nd stint because he would’ve held HAM. It was early for S, so H were what they fitted.

After Silverstone Mercedes will be rewarded more development time than their immediare rivals due to being fourth in the championship. It could see a serious resurgence from them.

Why is Mercedes sabotaging Russell with slower pit stops and hard tires? I am going to draft some emails...

Strange by Merc not to let Lewis past early in the race when it was clear he was held up by George. In the end it didn’t matter, but at that stage they could not have known. They are not very solid in the strategy department, as shown many times this season.

I’m glad to hear that he wasn’t pushing at the end. Because I was keeping an eye to his gap to Max since their tires were relatively the same age and he was losing half a sec a lap. Maybe Merc went too conservative there. Lando and Max were pushing and Lewis should have been allowed to push too.

Russell was better than Hamilton again, but it was impossible to defend with the worst tyres.

He was so much better that he had to stop earlier so he couldn't put soft tyres

Hamilton starting to wake up. He is always slow to learn, but when he does...
The qualy prep and how to push was his issue. Now he knows.

Russell prioritises track position and leans too much on the tyres right at start and after pit stops. He needs to find a balance somehow.

Yeah his problem isn't race pace, it's race intelligence.
