Looks amazingly consistent. Virtually no 'deg'.

Looking at the progression in the last few races, their deg, their low speed performance, the efficiency, I expect them to be matching RB and Mclaren, maybe even surpass them (in Austria already, or in a few races).

Shows how good Allison is, at least on par with Newey.

Progress for sure, given the doom and gloom on this thread a few months ago.
Though I contest that Allison is anywhere near on par with Newey.

Top 2 teams are miles ahead...You talk yourself into the optimism and then feel foolish for doing so. You meaning myself, of course

Higher track temps in SQ hurt Mercedes, but it was quite clear they pushed harder than most in FP1.

Mercedes losing 2 tenths alone in the fast corners of Sector 3.

Mercedes is fast, I'm sure tomorrow they will improve their qualifications, they left before everyone else, the condition of the track was constantly improving

It’s also worth noting that Merc doesn’t really like sprint weekends, I think tomorrow they will be closer in qualifying, overall the car looked quite good, and they were the first to make attempts

Yeah scrappy session from Lewis, George was descent, He mentioned he might have taken more out of the tyre in the outlap, i gather because of the positioning and time limit they had so couldn't get the tyre in the right range( These Pirelli cheese tyres really do take the mick) With Lewis not running the soft in practice he couldn't really gauge where the limit was and went over it at turn 3 on his final lap. His mistakes on the medium in Q1 were once again down to the tyre prep. There's just so much to gain when there in the right window. On to tomorrow
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know how it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”

"We are missing 10km/h in turns 7-8-9 and that's not something we can find for tomorrow." Nevertheless, Toto Wolff explained that in any case Mercedes will implement changes to the setup ahead of Saturday afternoon's Qualifying, then after the sprint race, partly because the one used today did not give the desired results. "It's always a very fine balance of looking for the perfect setup and using the tires in the right window. We always talk about details, a millimeter more or less in the height can make a difference." The Mercedes Team Principal pointed out that the curbs at the Red Bull Ring force the car up a bit so as not to damage the bottom. Another important element is the temperatures "There were 12 degrees more in Qualifying, this also makes a difference."

Their win in 2022 came at a Sprint weekend. Merc are not especially bad on sprint weekends. It just comes down to car performance for that circuit. After Spain, Toto Wolff said he wasn't confident about Austria, and was more confident about Silverstone. This looks to be somewhat confirmed. They can still have a good race because you need more than speed to finish in a good position.

Lewis age is showing again. Would have had George but for that mistake running wide.

To be honest with you guys I think the car has potential to be equal to McLaren and RedBull just do to natural convergence...and it might carry over into 2025. it's a good chance for Wolff to win another WCC and why he should have nabbed Carlos Sainz. I don't think Antonelli is ready for a WCC fight next year.
