I was thinking that even with the Imola spec, we shouldn't be this behind.

What is going on here?

The goal for the race is finishing P6-P7 ahead of Hulk. No way they will keep up with the front runners.
Nah, it's exactly where the Imola spec performs in cold conditions.
You think so? 0.7s behind?

They were a second off in Canada in q2.

With all the money, facilities and brain power, how is it possible not be able to build a competitive car?
I'm not 100% convinced that the "brain power" in place is competitive enough to mount a proper WC challenge.

Wasn't Canada that bad because of no "difficult" corners to put energy into the tyres? This isn't the case in Silverstone.

Brain power can be bought but looks like there is a culture and management issue here. First and foremost its important to change that without which even the best will fail.
Something bigger unknown to us is definately wrong here, the house needs to be in order and there is no quick fix or magic bullet because its a team sport and needs immense synchronisation to succed.

Yea, but the track was also warmer than today (I've just checked and air temp was around 20 C in Montreal. Today it was 13 C).

Today was very cold.

I don't see any other explanation at least, unless you think that there was a TD of some sort.

Vey difficult to hide the smell of failure even when your best driver comes up with a lame excuse.
The drivers ended their interviews with the usual "we'll see about the race, who knows" thing, but speaking frankly, we all know this season is ---ed, right?

Also I don't think Newey is coming to Ferrari. Only Italian sources have been reporting on it while every other organization has been saying AM. If he was actually considering SF I'd expect at least a few other organizations to have picked it up. Plus, speaking from common sense, why would he want to come here, the company has some internal issue they haven't fixed for over 17 years. At least with AM they're bringing in tons of new staff and starting from a "blank slate".
This is exactly a reason for him to join, except that we speak for Ferrari here that is a dream to all.
If Ferrari limbs continuously, he will be the "savior of the merciless" :)

Newey must love Cardile/Gualtieri. His asking price can increase after every exhibition of our technical team’s downgrades. Pathetic.
Enzo Ferrari was a great man, but he was not a good man.

This weekend is practically a testing session at this point. I have no hope for tomorrow.

Leclerc hasn't tried any long runs in the dry on this configuration

Team performed poorly and that was expected given the FP1/2 showing.

LEC being out in Q2 isn't really on him, Q1 was the first time he drove around track with the car in imola spec the whole weekend, it has nothing to do with the driver performance, car is not good here.

What the team did is collect data that shows when bouncing starts so they can add those parameters to the simulator and test the updates they'll bring with the ability to simulate it, something that clearly they weren't able to do. They will attempt saving the update in the next races because obviously they need to understand what they can do to improve upon it, even if it's replacing the front suspension next year.

it is disappointing to see haas outdeveloping Ferrari, makes me think Ferrari tried to take a bigger risk on their update and it backfired.

Charles said in his interview that they have no idea how they have lost pace in the car. I think even the Imola spec is slower than what they had as of Monaco. The car is just slow. 5th fastest team behind a customer team Haas is just pitiful. I think doom and gloom is warranted a bit.

Year, after year, after year, there is exactly one team who starts way behind the own expectations. And if they start where they want to be, it is carved in stone that they will fall back within the season. It's so frustrating, and it is a loop that goes on since 2009. A new low was reached today, beaten fair and square by the customer team Haas. Unbelievable. The downfall after the Monaco weekend is exceptional.

It is looking quite likely to be very wet during the race tomorrow at this moment.

I don't know if that is better to be honest.

Sainz was not even happy about being ahead of Leclerc in Q. This means that the situation is indeed terrible. He said that it is impossible to find confidence with this car... Imagine Leclerc that had almost no preparation... I really don't understand to be honest why the performance was this bad.
