Antonelli turns 18 today, great opportunity for further grooming under the Williams umbrella should Vowles call it a day with SAR. I’d be onboard with that
Poor from Hamilton, You come back after a summer break and produce that. Im not even surprised by his one lack of pace under these regs and cheese tyres i don't expect it to get better in Ferrari red next year. Hopefully Russell can sneak a podium some how.
These Pirelli tires are flimsy but it seems to be an issue affecting Merc more than anyone else, i dont usually see RB or Ferrari complaining about tire temp issues nearly as often and Mclaren rarely does, if at all. Shov and Allison both talked about their issues with the rear tires still overheating before the summer break and that their working on giving Lewis a car he can attack with
Yeah true but after seing Lewis's quotes its clear they changed too much between P2 and Qualifying (P3 was redundant) and the car was out of the working range. Saw some footage of his lap and the car looked terrible. Oversteer on entry, Understeer turning to Oversteer on exit lool You cant do anything with that. in race trim it might be worse. Giving Lewis a car he can attack with will not be a thing, he only has a couple of months left at this team, The Ferrari's characteristics will be interesting if he can utilize more of his natural ability behind the wheel. Lewis's stubbornness on adapting and his general dislike of ground effect cars has been highlighted by " The Race " and it all adds up to me when performances like this happen.
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know how it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”
I some times wonder of the uniformity of the tyres from set to set.
Several teams seem to have unexplained differences in performance both ways after changing sets
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.
Well...that race really brought us down to earth a bit...
A lot of difference in performance between two tyres of the same compound though.
I think its just down to a really bad setup imo, they got almost no dry running other than fp2, Lewis only got 1 session with the new floor and neither could test the changes made overnight due to Logan crashing and taking away almost the entirety of fp3. Russell was complaining about having no grip on fairly new hard tires and yesterday Ham said his car was oversteering all over the place in quali with the changes they made

Scary times if youre a Merc fan, handing the keys to RUS is a problem. Really makes you understand Wolffs pursuit of VER
The guy is a fast qualifier but his race pace has been a problem since the Williams days. Belgium was a hail mary that paid off and ultimately didn't pay off. Today is a better representation of his true level. Yes, next year Merc are in trouble unless Antonelli turns out to be God tier.
