Ferrari SF-24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It looks to me like they put some kind of patch, not a completely new floor.
Most likely this section was cut out from Barcelona-spec floors and replaced with a part of different geometry

Could a lack of flex on the front wing cause the understeer?
The Ferrari has the worst front end of all top four teams, you can see the understeer in every corner, more likely to do with the suspension.

This thread is for technical discussions about the SF-24, not team talk, speculations, etc.

<mod addition: this post was in response to a series of posts that could not be more off topic in a car thread; those have been removed. Leaving this one here as a reminder: no winning and losing in the car threads, use race threads and team threads for that, thanks.>

Very well thought out, every details seems a small improvement over 22/23 spec wing. Seems like the wing and flap profiles are very similar in angle, shape and size, but the leading edge has a different curve along the span definitely. The transition towards the tip is much more subtle, while the endplate extension itself is a lot flatter and the curve is much smaller now - effectively increasing the span before tip losses start ocuring.

Obviously, there's a single pylon and connected to the DRS mechanism. Since these two photos are from different angles, no way to truly compare their size and angles. However, we do see a flat flap extension, while the very tip of the flap is cut off to absolutely maximise the efficiency by reducing frontal area where the losses are biggest.

High quality photos by formu1a.uno team. Rear wing is particularly good looking, clear step above 22/23 wing design in terms of tip flow conditioning and details.

That's almost a perfect size comparison, new wing is at 98.5% span of the new one. After correcting it, it turns out the new wing is even smaller in height, by about 15-20mm. I was 100% sure they will go bigger, but there we have it

Can you spot any differences in the floor? Tough for me to tell on this angle.

Not on top. I don't think we'll see topside changes anymore this year, on any car. Occasional diffuser change and whatever we can see on the rear keel

PD confirmed the updates were only fitted to car 55 and then removed (presumably for legality checks). Car 16 here is still in old spec.
