The confusion about this latest 'instant' red flag was because the FOM international feed was showing a replay, while Alonso crashed. During the replay first a single yellow, than a double yellow and within a few seconds a red flag came out. Meanwhile the replay was showing and when that ended, the above mentioned cycle from yellow to red had been going on. The international feed made it looks like there was an instant red flag, while in reality there wasn't.

The 40+ seconds waiting time on bringing out the red flag in Q2 needs some serious reviewing though! Just remember Bianchi!
Bianchi wasn't english, neither is Hulkenberg.

Hearing reports from the pit lane that they can see water drops on the wheel rims of some of the cars….
Just a fan's point of view

Albon big crash. Poor Williams mechanics as well. Don't think Albon will be taking part in the race with this amount of damage

I’ll be amazed if he makes the race start.
Best case a pit lane start?

Why is that important? Leclerc knocked out Verstappen to P11 just as Aston went off. No red flag can be (or should be) thrown that fast.

Norris will crash in the race. He has nearly dropped it a handful of times so far

At this point we're going to have cars unable to start the race that is both Williams and both Astons in bits
