Personally I am against the rule of changing a tyre during a red flag. It is against fair competition. Piastri screwed it completely. Good thing is that we still gain more points than Ferrari. Bad thing is that Max got promoted by an unfair rule to P2.

For the race start I really don't think we can complain, it looked like the left side of the grid had less water and Russel was able to do a good start. Race pace looked good but a shame Norris couldn't get by, he had more pace than Russel.

Going to change tires during VSC was a good call but VSC ended just as they were entering so they lost out to VER.
After that NOR overtook RUS and was gaining heavily on VER and OCO (3-4 seconds a lap) as they couldn't hold it on track.

Safety car was fine as well, better tires and only couple of spots behind. But then Colapinto crashes under the safety car. What can you do.

C'mon...I don't like max but he was excellent this race. From P17 to P10 in 1 lap, passing Piastri like nothing, beeing P5 before mid race....Poor performance from McLaren this race. A race to forget!

I really do wish it wasn't allowed to work on the cars during red flags. Like it is in many other series.

Oh well, hopefully the team can manage a better start to next season.

What can you do indeed? Today's result so far is down to pure dumb luck. It's two races now that Max gains something due to a Safety Car.

Not sure stopping was that bad a decision at the time, just in hindsight.

The safety car, helped them and the rain was decreasing.

You can't assume Colapinto bins it behind the safety car.

And Landos start, not sure it was bad, maybe safe, but in those conditions that's understandable.

Where did McLaren perform poorly? The race was red flagged because cappuchino crashed. Up to the red flag everithing was the right call.

Yes, stopping was a fine decision. But VSC ended just as they were pitting so they effectively had a green flag pitstop and ended up behind GAS/VER/OCO. Then they looked great, safety car was great but obviously red flag was not.

So we lost out on a VSC pitstop because Hulk was assisted back on track. Great.
