Indeed, after the first lap in Q2 he never had a clean break. Sainz crashed just as he was about to start his first lap on Inters, Stroll crashed on his second full lap on inters, Alonso crashed after his first/prep lap on inters in Q3 and finally Piastri messes up Leclerc's final Q3 lap with his off and re-entry

Lesson to be learned - by the first one in line to at least get a clean track and first time on the board

I don't think there's a set time how soon you can leave, they still left and arrived later after McLarens and Alpine for the final try. They could have left 20s earlier and got ahead... It is what it is, who knows what will happen in the race

Anyway, Sainz taking PU penalty here will be good for Vegas. Also, if Leclerc can get a good grid spot there, they can also swap his PU and he can cut back through the field. This will maximise their chances for Qatar and AD, we can see how much of a difference a fresh PU made for Max

I understand why they did it, they were going nowhere but with the way the conditions were there was a very high chance it would backfire.
While it hasn't totally backfired I think it was an unnecessary gamble!

Pit wall either miscalculated the time or the pit stop was slow as they def didn't want to dump him out behind Bearman and Hamilton.

Strategy call wasn't great but not bad either. Until Colapinto's crash, UNDER SC, they were in a good spot with new inters against most of the others in front either Wets (tsunoda) or Ocon/Max on used Inters. NOR and RUS were the only new inters in front of LEC before the crash.

That one's on Leclerc then, should have listened to Bozzi but after Silverstone I guess he wanted to be his own master. Not too much harm in any case, he needs to make up positions on his own

No pace. Terrible strategy. Sainz spins.

What a miserable ending to an otherwise exceptional triple header. Feels like --- to end it this way.
