Good thing out of this weekend is that we increased the distance from Ferrari from 29 to 36 points.
Norris might still have to eat another penalty for the start procedure infringements. I'd be surprised it it stays at 36.
Whatever penalty he gets, both VCARB cars are also going to get, so at worst he drops behind Oscar.

I wonder whether, given there was no competitive advantage gained, maybe it might be a fine, rather than a time penalty.
Yeah I'm excited to see what it ends up being. I think a 10 second penalty is most likely, but it could realistically be anything from a fine to a full blown DQ. I think the fact that people followed him will be considered mitigating, but if he did it alone I genuinely believe an outright DQ would have been the penalty.

[ there were many missed opportunities throughout the year and only one of them could be blamed on Max.
Genuinely curious, which one?
Probably Austria?

If they get disqualified then it’s a 2 point gain for Ferrari today

Emag I don't think Lando said anything wrong here. Max drove masterfully here and that is tue but the Red Flag saved him as under normal circumstances he would have been a lot of places behind after his pit stop having to deal with the dirty air of many cars needing to pass them and as we saw from the Ferrari of Leclerc he wouldn't be able to. Also I don't want to play devil's advocate but I will. Back at Miami Lando Norris beat Max Verstappen on a 20 lap battle and gaped him by 15 seconds masterfully yet the hypocrites in the media screamed luck back then due to exploiting a SC. I find it unfair these same people treating the same situation differently now. It is unfair for Lando Norris.
The comment was pretty poor. But as I said I would have liked to see the full context of the conversation and questions. In another interview he said Max was just too quick and if he started near them ( he and George) he would’ve lapped them. He was just too quick. I wonder if ge was talking about the Alpines?

Max also had a brand new set of inters Lando and the front runners only none. With another set of inters he could’ve gotten made his was trough the field again too. The red flag made a certainty of it though

Even a jump start isn't a DQ though, and that is an obvious competitive gain.
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

Maybe but is Max better though on his comments? The only one that I see giving props to his opponents is Hamilton.

Everyone forgot the race.

There was a VSC because someone spun (maybe SAI), they had 10 second gap to P3 and it made sense to pit onto good tyres.

Then SAI moves so VSC ends just as they are entering so they lose more time than expected.

After that NOR is fast and catching VER seconds a lap but the rain is so heavy that it goes SC. Now NOR is P4 on new inters during heavy rain during SC. Pretty good position.

But then Colapinto crashes under safety car and it is a red flag. Very unlucky. But it was also very lucky to scrape by into Q2 and to get VER fall out due to Aston crashing. In the end luck kind of evened out.

Bigger issue is the inability to restart well or overtake.
This, but it was Hülkenberg being illegally assisted back on track by the marshals that ended the VSC at the wrong time.
That was not illegal. The marshals need to clean the track as fast as possible, and that was the fastest option. Can not be done better. Hulk then ends his race...all perfectly by the rules.
You what? The perfectly legal move of recieving outside assistance that got him a black flag?

DSQ would be incredibly harsh considering the drivers behind followed. A 5 or even 10s penalty for P1-P3 seems fair as they went on their own, anything more is overkill.

That is pretty much what I said. 10 sec to drivethrough seems most likely, but it could be 5 or even just a fine.

Yes. The rule is black flag, but the situation was handled as it is intended to be. Perfectly done by the marshals.

This is a normal situation for a reprimand. Late enough, usually I would let you sweat longer

Hmm I didn't realize Norris came from 17th in Miami.

Clearly those other quotes were taken out of context.

“We weren’t quick enough,” said Norris.

“Max was easily quicker than us so I think if he [started] from the front, he probably would have lapped us. The pace was, I think, similar to George [Russell], but the Red Bull was way faster.”

This is uncharted territory. What I know is Norris&co made a mistake large enough to cut a lap out of the race distance. A reprimand is usually for a procedural error that has little to no effect on the race. Cutting laps out of it is definitely not "little to no effect".

I’m probably spamming but everytime I see someone post saying Lando is salty or Lando thinks Verstappen won by luck I just post this link
