I disagree, it's a technicality that the stewards decided was not relevant in this special scenario. It carried no sporting benefit and no safety risk. A fine seems appropriate.
Tell me if I’m wrong here. But no safety risk? On a neutralised track with potential for medical or recovery vehicles and marshalls out on track at formation lap speeds.

There was nothing special about an aborted start, they are normal and happen relatively often.
My comment was in reference to the Merc tyre pressure ruling, not the aborted start.
Ah, my confusion. Thanks

Confusion but the reasoning works the same.

Not that I have any desire for another penalty, but qualies get cancelled, SC's get on track because of rain, penalty points are given because one jumps a fabricated VSC ending by 0.063s ... all for safety, all to avoid the slightest chance of another Bianchi scenario.

But yet we keep driving and swapping drivers while a driver is walking 50cm next to a seriously wet track, and just fine a Mickey Mouse sum when the safety measures around a restart are are not followed. It's kinda ridiculous ...

High time Sky F1 gets all their international contracts cancelled by FOM and replaced by F1 TV feed.

The sky coverage is just atrocious

So... results final now at least.

On the Mercedes pressure thing... at the same time we get a suspicion of teams filling their tires in a less than "correct" manner, one team deliberately goes against the rules in setting tire pressures and the FIA gives them a slap on the wrist.

If it was LH who drove that race, everyone would be calling this the greatest drive of all time. But it's not so the magnitude of this win is downplayed to diminish Max. It's absolutely clear we have never seen talent like Max in F1 history. He is undisputed GOAT. The best driver debate should focus on the category below Max, who is beyond reproach.

1. Max Verstappen

2. Lewis
3. Schumacher
Nah it's not the same. He was getting dropped by ocon at certain points before the red flag. The conditions came to him and he executed.

Be objective please.

Anyone else perplexed how they showed Stroll in the gravel, but they never showed how he got there, even during red flags, safety cars, etc? That was just bizarre.
I've seen the video from people in the stands, it's like he did on purpose.

It's the dumbest thing I've seen since watching Mazepin race for Haas. Instead of a right U-turn, he did a left U-turn and expected to ram through gravel, not just dry gravel, but wet gravel heavy with water that is going to be even more effective in stopping an F1 car ? Aston Martin probably has the full sweep of human intellect across an entire team - Jr.Stroll on one end and Adrian Newey on the other end.

It is unbelievable... Why? Why would you go this route instead of back to the track? It makes no sense, it's so dumb.

He didn't wanna race and decided that looking stupid is better than just retiring because you're not feeling it.

Unfortunately, for me, the "Sao Paolo" Grand Prix once again reveals one of the two great weaknesses of today's F1. 1. Pirelli's seemingly continuing inability to construct decent full wets. 2. the equally persistent over-cautiousness to drive in the rain (which is certainly also due to a large extent to modern society, as today in the event of an accident with injuries there would be a reaction that would immediately call into question the existence of an entire sport) with the lame excuse of today's cars. Where the first is incomprehensible (that Pirelli still can't build a rain tire after more than a decade), the second is simply ridiculous and a shame. It's ridiculous that you have the best drivers in the world who can't even drive in a bit of rain because half the world would be in an uproar in the event of an accident and you need cheap excuses (visibility in the rain was already zero 30 years ago, as Schumacher/Coulthard 1998 proves beyond doubt). I miss the good old days when the world was less crazy, when it was accepted that motorsport was dangerous and when Bernie said - you have contracts, you drive. There may well be other opinions here, but sorry, I think the fact that the Royal Road of motorsport, for whatever reason, no longer races in the rain is just embarrassing and a great pity at the same time.
I agree with your first point - that it's a shame Pirelli can't build a proper wet tyre.
Regarding your second point, while it's true that F1 is more 'chicken' to risks compared to the decades before, I don't think that's the reason why they are calling off driving in the wet. The real reason is - post-2021 ground effect cars' 'wake' is more upwards than outwards. This creates a fine mist-screen (lots of 'hang-time' for the sprayed up droplets) behind the car, such that the following driver can't even see, even if he doesn't follow the same racing line. Driver complaints are not really about 'grip' (they aren't any less brave than yesteryear drivers) but about 'vision'.
Yes, the wake goes more upwards than sideways. But that is NOT the real reason why F1 shies away from rain racing, it is purely an excuse. In the 1990s and 00s, with inwash and comparatively high diffusers, the spray was similar and they raced there too. You only have to look at the rain races back then to realize that the reason has nothing to do with the spray and the wake, but that there are other reasons. And ultimately, the height of the rider's seat determines the visibility that is actually important. And at this height, visibility was still poor in every regulation, which makes it clear that it is just an excuse, nothing else.

Gave Ferrari 2 minutes per tire for using 2 extra tires in the 8h of Bahrain in WEC taking out their 2nd place. Gave LEC a 10k fine for saying f--- during a press conference...

Stewards can go f--- themselves... Not a weekend without some absolutely braindead calls.
Lucky for them that tyres weren’t saying f***. That would be extra 10k

Maybe because GP was telling him to be very, very careful, and he actually had championship on the line, unlike Ocon. On the radio, he told GP he wanted to try 1 lap in the worsening conditions, so no point in going balls out when you are just trying for the conditions before coming in.

Max gets 10 seconds for being 0.6s ahead of his delta under VSC in ONE mini sector on safety grounds. But both Mercedes and Norris get gentle tap on the wrist over some clear infringements.

I can't even ...

This kind of stuff turns even the most reasonable people into "conspiracy theorists".
