He really is a fantastic starter. Aside from the Austria lap 1 incident, I think he's only lost positions on a start once this entire year?

No driver has outperformed Vettel and Sainz like Leclerc did despite an insane amount of points lost for reasons outside his control (mainly Ferrari incompetence).

We'll see with Lewis.
I would be really shocked if Hamilton suddenly found his WDC form again. It's not out of the question but I think Hamilton is a solid pickup for reasons outside of "just" driving. He's extremely popular, personable, and charismatic; he can carry the Ferrari brand for a long time, and do a lot in that respect that literally no other driver can. Him being good on-track is more of a bonus. As long as he brings in consistent points and a win or two, which I'm sure he will, he'll be fulfilling his role.

Leclerc is driving out of his mind this season and provided he doesn't randomly become bad next year, he should be the clearest title contender along with Verstappen. I truly don't think there's a better driver right now than Leclerc other than Max, so he's the only driver I would ever want Ferrari to go out of their way for. Norris, Piastri, Russell would all be sidegrades at best.

The best part about the Hamilton-Leclerc pair to me is that they are both amazing tire managers which means the SF-25 can afford to have a bit more tire wear. We saw yesterday just how great at defending Leclerc is (and multiple other times this year like with Piastri in Zandvoort). He's also really good at starts... as exhibited by the video above.

If the SF-25 fixes the SF-24's qualifying issues and Leclerc (or Hamilton) can snag poles, I imagine we'll be fighting for wins often. The key part is fixing the issues without introducing more... but that's what Serra is for.

All good but i am not seeing that Vasseur is using any politics power in F1/FIA. Look at just these penalities yestrday whwre we could have benefited more
To what end? Restart mess with Norris and Russell isn't worthy of DSQ or any kind of sporting penalty, especially since many other drivers made the same procedural error. As for Russell and Hamilton tyre pressure change after aborted start, they probably argued their case well enough and blamed the mess on restart grid. That's a thing between FIA and the team, third parties are not involved. Appealing that decision would require some substantial new evidence or previous precedent and would likely end up being dismissed in any case. All that effort for 2 more points for Ferrari and 4 more points for McLaren? :)

Is it good decision for Hamilton to drive for Ferrari in 2025, considering Mercedes' problems with car in 2024??
I thought Serra joined as TD, is Hamilton taking that place too?
Hi Vanja, I don't understand your answer, I asked about Hamilton and not about Loic.

The defense against VER was even more impressive. I really hope we get a VER-LEC title fight at some point! So much talent between those two...

leclerc is crash prone he should have fought for that champion in 2022 when he had the quickest car .i don't see him fighting for Championship he is too inconsistent.

and promote Bearman or bring in Lando or Russell.
Why don't we take a swing at Kiminelli? Yes, it will be difficult to steal him from Toto, but Ferrari for the Italian is not an empty sound and very tempting.

Oh no, Bearman or Norris are not on Verstappen's level at the moment, even taking into account his stubbornness, he will bring more points in one rainy weekend than these two put together.
We already have our own Verstappen, Charles is no worse, they say he makes a lot of mistakes, but in the same season 2022, that he and Max had 2 mistakes for the whole season, Max was lucky that his mistakes did not affect the result, Charles did not.

That's why we should have both of them in one team and prevent other teams from having him :D

Make sense) but what about Kiminelli? what if he's a top driver on the level of Charles and Max?
wouldn't it be better to try to take him instead of Max?

He is 18 only so he has many years in F1, let him mature like a good wine, and in 5-10 years it will be quite possible to take him as a replacement for Leclerc or Verstappen or whoever will be in Ferrari at that time. The main thing is to create the fastest cars with reliable engines and have convincing political influence, and for this the team management must make efforts now.

Since we are discussing drivers, I believe the only guy who can trade punches in a wheel to wheel scrap battle with Verstappen (provided they have similarly capable cars underneath them) , is LeClerc. And I am not basing this on just the beginning of 2022. It's from something like 2019 that I've been observing - Max reads the mind of the other driver, the only driver who can do the reverse and read his mind, is LeClerc. Because wheel-to-wheel is a lot about reading the other guy even when he is behind.

Totally agree with this.
Unfortunately people elevate some drivers and put down others just simply based on results completely ignoring context like the cars which are responsible for at least 90% of the result.

I personally think that had Leclerc been driving the McLaren since Miami with the Ferrari strategists not those clowns at McLaren, Leclerc would have overhauled Max's Lead...

What a tiring narrative. If you added up all the points Ferrari lost Leclerc vs. the amount of points Leclerc lost Leclerc, the points Ferrari lost would be like 3x more...

Yes, I'm sure Leclerc's one crash in France lost them the WDC in 2022 and not him losing podiums in Monaco, Spain, Baku, and more because of the team or car. He did, in fact, fight for the championship when he had the car. How do you think he got 3 wins and would have gotten at least 3 more without team errors?

Leclerc is actually one of the least crash prone drivers this season. And he's only crashed in FP sessions, never in a competitive one.

Ok, but what does Hamilton have to do with car design?

Antonelli needs to show what he's got in the next couple of seasons first. They skipped his F3 campaign and put him straight to F2 and now F1. Max came in even younger, yes, but he was unbelievably crash prone until 2020. It takes some psychological maturity to compete in F1 at the highest level
And they call it a stall. A STALL!
