I don't understand Sainz's excuses in the media pen after the race. He claimed the car was "very unpredictable" and he has "no idea" why he crashed. It was clear from the replay that he braked on the white line (slippery) which caused the rear to lock and spun him around. It's an elementary mistake for a racing driver to make.

Leclerc did the same thing in the race, but saved it.

You always have to take a driver's "excuses" with a grain of salt.

Sometimes there’s pedal fluctuations, can’t predict those.

Seems like Zhou will return to Ferrari's fold (was previously FDA driver 2014-2018) as a development driver. Apparently, Vasseur values him and also Ferrari has a bi interest in Chinese market obviously

According to Paolo Ciccarone of “RMC Motori,” it appears that Guanyu Zhou, whose F1 career with Stake-Sauber is soon to end, is likely to join Ferrari at Maranello. Fred Vasseur has been a strong supporter of Guanyu Zhou since their time together at Alfa Romeo.

“Having lost his seat at Sauber, Zhou Guanyu will join Ferrari as a simulator test driver starting next season. Zhou joined Sauber through the backing of Fred Vasseur, who wanted to offer him this new opportunity. The need for an experienced F1 driver in Ferrari’s simulator role arises from Robert Shwartzman’s commitment to IndyCar and Oliver Bearman’s move to Haas, leaving a need for experience alongside Antonio Giovinazzi and Fuoco, who are engaged in the WEC, and Davide Rigon. Wearing the Ferrari uniform is an excellent calling card for Zhou, as China remains an important market for Ferrari.”

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Reminds me how in sports like basketball and football(either one) where a player will sit on the ground feigning injury after a poor play when all that was really hurt was their ego.

That’s the standard for Sainz, don’t think he’s ever been at fault for anything according to himself…

Let's be fair, the Ferrari does still have an unpredictable element about it if it's not set up properly. He was struggling before the spin

Yes. According to Vasseur, they did not set the cars up properly as they were expecting different weather conditions.

That said, it was ultimately Sainz's mistake... which he admitted in his interviews so I'm not sure why some of you are insisting he only blamed the car. He said the car was hard to drive. He also said it was his fault he crashed and apologized to the team numerous times.

I understand many people here are frustrated with Sainz recently. I am too, as I believe Ferrari could be P1 in the WCC already if he drove a bit more safely... but aside from Baku, he's been open about his crashes recently being his own fault.

No surprise. Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move is ‘a perfect match’ commercially. It’s why Ferrari thought the deal made financial sense.

IBM, UniCredit & Pernon Ricard just a few of the names, and more will follow.

Yet another great pick up for Ferrari. IBM are investing quite a bit into AI computing; I don't know how much these sponsors give to teams or they're simply branding deals, but if they can provide that technology to Ferrari, it might prove very useful.

Dont think IBM do much in the world of AI that would be all that relevant for Ferrari necessarily. They dont really build actual computing solutions anymore outside of big mainframe sorts of computers which are more just the IT backbone of big businesses.

IBM are still on the leading edge of transistor research, so they're kind of indirectly still relevant to everything in the computing world, but I doubt they have much to offer Ferrari for AI that isn't better served by the big boys of the AI world right now. And heck, there's still a strong need for high precision FP64 compute for CFD and all so the low precision world of AI isn't necessarily the future for F1 car development. Though I'm sure it still has its uses.

That's good. I trust vasseur's judgement and having a development driver with very recent experience is good

I was unaware that FP64 existed...

Ideally, their contribution can extend beyond monetary value, yet IBM's sponsorship is undoubtedly a fantastic addition to the sponsor roster.

However, it must be said, the car already has an abundance of blue on it!
