For some reason that guys face reminds me of Fisichella! I looked at it initially and thought, why is Giancarlo in this pic...

Rumours of Colapinto in line for Checo's seat at Red Bull next year. His immediate showing against a former Red Bull driver obviously , and the South American sponsors lining up outside the Williams door, obviously caught Marko's attention.

It's not really "South American" sponsors... It has more to do with sponsors from Hispanic Latin America (which starts in Mexico and has a strong presence in the South of the USA).

If it depended only on Argentine and South American sponsors, Colapinto would not have so much marketing power because most of the countries here in South America are bankrupt (especially Argentina). Furthermore, the country with the largest economy and population in South America (Brazil) does not speak Spanish and there is no identification with Colapinto.

By the way, just as a curiosity, Brazilian drivers suffer from the opposite. Despite Brazil being the largest economy in Latin America, there is no identification with the Spanish-speaking countries in America (almost all of them), which means there isn't as much market power for Brazilian drivers.

Vasseur is a true sportsman, many would squeeze as many promo events as they can for their outgoing driver before contract expires...

Of course Vanja...

A short trip to the past:
Wolff has revealed that he contacted his friend, Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur after his conversation with Carlos Sainz, but he did not receive any response from the Frenchman.

"And then I sent a text to [Ferrari boss] Fred Vasseur saying: 'You're taking our driver?' Didn't get any response. Very unusual for Fred. He's a good friend. So yeah, I saw it coming."

You're waxing lyrical about Vasseur's sportsmanship when he couldn't bother to tell his longtime friend, Toto Wolff, that he was stealing his driver (LH44). I've no problem with that but let's not get carried away about sportsmanship. They are letting Sainz go because he and Williams pose no threat to Ferrari whatsoever. He was in no rush to let Cardile go to Aston Martin...

Fred was never going to confirm Ferrari were in talks with Lewis, in case Mercedes attempted to dissuade him from the move. Sometimes teams let drivers go early and sometimes they don't, just how F1 is.

Main thing is Sainz can give Williams feedback on the car and not have to wait until 2025 to get it.

I'm afraid you have some things backwards there. By the time old man Sainz blabbed his mouth to Toto, Hamilton has already made his mind and signed. From then, it's Hamilton who's supposed to break it to Toto, no one else. What was Vasseur supposed to do by answering, lie to Toto that nothing's going on?

Alpine let Alonso test early for AMR in 2022 and it was clear Fallows made a big step with his massive evolution, with more coming next year. That was good sportsmanship, Alonso was, is and remains Renault's last F1 Champion. Bottas was allowed to test early for Alfa Sauber back in 2021. Vettel was allowed to test 2012 car for Ferrari in November 2014. It's called good manners

Cardille to AMR early? He was appointed Ferrari TD just before this season started and he decided to cash out six months later. Do you know how long his contract was? All I know Serra was forced to work for Toto until earlier this year before his gardedning leave started.

The McLaren boys have done well though. Sign of an easier or more stable car than the Williams?
I think it's fair to say the McLaren has been an easier car than the Williams, plus when you're in a faster car, you're able to leave a little more margin for error.
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

Vowles must be sick to his stomach with these crashes. Hard to remember a team having this many crashes throughout a season. Multiple million spent repairing and replacing. I’m sure their new infrastructure is getting is already starting to pay off but these crashes won’t help progress.

Colapinto clearly has pace, and would’ve been top 10 given the massive tow he had down the back straight but that was a severe misjudgement.

Albon had a stinker as well.

AMuS reports that Williams is likely to be able to rebuild Colapinto's car for tomorrow, but it's the last time this season. Any more crashes will mean a DNS for the remaining races.
