Outstanding from George. He really pulled a lot out of the Merc. He’s an amazing qualifier. Lewis looks like he has no idea why he is losing it when it counts, and he was dismissive of a very poor showing in Q3. Plus, he’s now overdriving — a sign of panic and a lack of feel. He’s doomed next year. Tomorrow will reveal if George can advantage his pole and stay focused enough to carry it home. I give him a 50-50 chance. I’m not convinced he has the nads to hold under pressure. Hope he can. He would serve himself well to try and pull a gap early while the Merc tires heat up faster than everyone else.

If this track proves to be like every other track where overtaking is supposed to happen under these new regs (I.e. overtaking is hard with massive long straights AND drs) he's probably in with a good chance of keeping everyone behind.

Strategy and tyres are most likely going to be the biggest decider.

My guess as to why Mercedes is so fast in the cold, but struggles with balance and setups in the hot is the often discussed rear tires.
I feel like they're the best at heating them up and getting them to temperature right away, but that throws the car out of the window once conditions change.

He’s never converted a pole into a win, and generally goes backwards on a Sunday, due to him outperforming the car on a Saturday. You clearly don’t watch much F1
