Something happened b/w Q2 and Q3, two McLarens, a VCARB and a Haas - they didn't improve their Q2 times by much ; while others did, by considerable margins.
Large delay b/w Q2 and Q3 => track temp dropped further ? how did others cope ? did all those guys adapt their tyre warmup procedure, but these four didn't ? or were these 4 cars already hitting their absolute limit in Q2 itself ?
Likely they didn't warm the tires up properly. In these temperatures, you have to.

It was odd, I did note in the discord group at the time that there was only going to be 1 lap to get the prep right. I know Max was doing 2 laps before doing a hot lap and his final run was just 1 prep lap (with GP telling him to do a few brake/start/brake applications).

So comparable to others, not sure what was going on with how many runs they were doing. Sure McLarens were 1 prep lap??
Mess with the Bull - you get the horns.

Can we say that Hamilton is having a tough time with all the younger guns at their prime? He clearly bodged Q3.
The first mistake was most likely ham's fault, but the second one is a strange snap oversteer mid corner. Just like in Austin, he wasn't even on throttle. Strange car behavior

It's a much warmer day today than yesterday. Quite noticeably and also much windier than yesterday. Today the wind is gusting against the flow of main straight. The DRS and slipstream will be crucial, so being able to put power down early and making the pass late so that no counter slipstream can be taken.
I am watching next to the marshal stand on Harmon in front of the kink at the end of sector 3 and it looks like current conditions will mean a slightly warmer night. The teams that have mastery of the hard tyre will likely eek ahead but a safety car or red flag is not out of the picture.

What does the 'vibe' feel like at this race?

It doesn't give me anything at all on the emotional responsometer* and the footage looks like this is reallt poor for viewing and seeing a car out and performing.

Maybe I am a Luddite and perhaps this is the new school way it is going to be. Maybe! It just looks dead behind the eyes.

I hope you get some good support races too - and that you have a great time :)

Thanks for the weather updates too - the high speed headwind might make some interesting overtaking options possible.

Mclaren missing their mini-DRS, would come in handy here.
Just a few races ago they were dominant everywhere. Now, several cars are outperforming them. Seems very strange, just like how Red Bull's dominance ended so abruptly, this year.

To be completely honest, it all seems very fishy to me
Mclaren were fastest in Brazil up til Sunday when it rained.

Do you ask this about the races in the Arabian Peninsula?
