Why is Leclerc suddenly so slow?

Is it his ancient engine?

Ultimately, no change in start positions. Sainz showed we have the pace of Piastri and Russell, but overtaking here was a challenge(as we saw with a 19 lap long DRS train).

Strategy will be crucial here for the race tomorrow.

In this track, overtaking is almost impossible.
Leclerc had a massive delta on Lewis and still had to discharge the entire electric boost despite being only 0.4s behind. The FIA completely --- with the DRS line.

Either we qualify well or is going to be very difficult.

They are both very "clean" racers who posses amazing race craft so it creates some nice battles on track.. it's happened a few times over the past 4-5 years

Anyways this was earlier, the qualifications and race will be later so I don’t expect to have the same performance.. not that it was something spectacular.

yup without pitstop its quite boring, i really hope they mandate 2 minimum pitstop like last year..

You can clearly see from the telemetry how #Sainz has a first snap entering T1 and then a second much bigger one, and at that point #Leclerc has to raise many times, trying to reopen as much as possible, but at that point #QatarGP was bottled up.

If they can fix the understeer(with no downsides) Ferrari maybe will be able to join the battle.

Ferrari's DRS also didn't look super strong, the few times Russell had on Piastri he seemed to gain more.
Maybe consider going reverse strategy in one of the cars.

Really unfortunate with Sainz's lock up at the beginning, but thankfully Leclerc regained the position later. Great racing between Hamilton and Leclerc.

Still, this track is --- for overtaking, they absolutely need to do well in qualifying later...

Why did Leclerc's pace drop so much in the final lap? Did they tell him to be careful for some reason?
