Was LEC last lap fuel saving or engine issue?

He could've easily gone the Seb/Lewis/Damon Hill route and mentally checked out. Quite the opposite.
He checked out in last few races last year for whatever reason

Another good performance from Sainz, demonstrating his race pace with the old spec car.
Without a doubt, the USA/MXC/Vegas/Qatar(sprint) span has been the best driving I've ever seen from him(Brazil obviously not good).

He's got a bone to pick.
I don't blame him. :D

It's been a fun to watch though. Would've been very disappointed had he gotten emotional and folded up shop early.

From what I remember he had the bad crash at Abu Dhabi but other than that was business as usual in terms of outright performance over the last 5 races.

Once again, you’re exaggerate the difference in the cars, the floor was more considered to be testing of the correlation for the next year. And yet you complain like a snowflake in the same way as Leclerc when someone jokes and plays sarcasm with you.

But I digress, the performance of Sainz in the sprint was great, it’s a fair and realistic statement. Other than that in a contrast from Hamilton, he never had given up but also I didn’t see anything as improvement from the years before. If something was there in him, the top teams would fight for him, you can’t say that he hasn’t got good sponsors coming with him.

Leclerc also has an old engine compared to Sainz.

Interestingly, they just mentioned this on Sky. Apparently Sky asked Ferrari about it and Ferrari declined to answer, despite this being a question they'd normally have no issue responding to.

But it's too late to swap any parts, so no point in dwelling on it. Let's see if the team figured things out for qualifying. These soft tires will make or break the WCC...

It's 22c on track right now, basically the same as sprint qualifying.

I don’t get why Sainz is consistently faster than Leclerc now. Is the fresh engine that much more powerful or is Sainz genuinely better currently?

Leclerc won't be in the fight today, same situation as yesterday with a lot of understeer. In these conditions Sainz is the only one who can do well.

I suspect they need the understeer for better tyre wear.

Good Q2 for Leclerc. Sainz having some trouble with balance in medium speed.

Red Bull out of nowhere.

Better Verstappen than Norris or Piastri. Ferrari really needs to claw back points.

Ideally the grid ends up mixed with Sainz and Leclerc close, while the McLarens and Mercedes end up split.

It seems like the current RB20 is solid in qualifying but bad in the race?

Their pace was dreadful earlier but they seem to be on top of things right now. Might also be track conditions changing.
