Hope Max sends it tomorrow and is leading after T1.
Dirty side was a really big disadvantage at the sprint start. Even if George messes up his start somehow, Max will be still very vulnerable to Lando starting from 3rd.

Yeah but I can hope I guess. At least hope Red Bull protests this. The stewards admit to inventing a new penalty because they wanted to in a way because the explanation is somehow the 3 place grid penalty is mitigated. But then they also say it applies if Russell was on a push-lap. Terrible really.

The document hardly seems to explain the reason well

This is a brand new precedent. Let me guess.. They'll never give another grid penalty for this

The document is a joke.

It says unusually incident occurs when neither driver was on a push lap and if GR was on a push lap it's a 3 place grid, which we can all agree to. But then somehow since GR saw Max, it mitigates this penalty apparently. But the penalty doesn't even apply in this case(do they even realize the idiocy?).

For a non-existent penalty, they came up with a lenient version. Joke.

See if he can take P1 at T1, else retire the car before the end of the lap. Preferably in the last corner faking an issue causing a SC.
Or just drive into the pits ..

Sadly, another be expected with Connelly as race steward ‘creativity’ penalty to driver he don’t like…
When do they finally clean up the stewards pool with a consistent and non-biased pool of stewards?

This “every race has different decisions/interpretations” at the pinnacle of Motorsport is the biggest joke…

On the positive side… another good motivational for Max.

If Checo keeps his ride next year , it will be the biggest dereliction of merit in pro sport history.

Anyone else concerned about how long this took to come out, have a bad feeling a certain FIA president could be intervening again, just like he did with the community service.

Derek Warwick is a duty this weekend as well and he's about as pro Max as they get in the stewards room.
It's general FIA incompetence more than anything.

Please explain why Warwick who said he hoped Lewis would win against Rosberg while being a steward that same year would be pro Max? I say this because I see people bring up what Warwick said about Max out of context again and again as some sort of gotcha moment.

This is what happens when a clever diplomatic lawyer and a blunt hitman are called to argue their side of a case in front of a new judge who feels lucky to be there, and is eager to impress the world by 'clever interpretation' of a non existing law

Do you mean Rui Marques? If it's the case: the race director just refer incidents to the stewards. He's not involved in the decision making of the outcome.

Just curious how are they going to deal with the pole trophy?

I get this vision of the FiA knocking on Russels door delivering the trophy with Verstappens name on it. “Yeah just take some whiteout and scribble your own name on it, it’ll be fine.”

There also must be some lifetime achievement in there, the amount of trophies verstappen had to hand back by now; I can’t think of any driver that would come anywhere close.

If not that, than surely rules that have been invented specifically for him would qualify.

GR seems to be making habit of frightening himself off the road when approaching another car that he can clearly see, however much he may disagree with the pace or trajectory of that "target" car. Last time even tipping himself over, vary careless is would appear :D

This has a taste of LH penalty in Belgium against the Ferrais years ago, when he had to give a place back and then judged to have impinged on some rule or other that nobody had previously considered.

Still don't understand how yesterday was a 1 place grid drop and 1 penalty point.

But Norris got absolutely nothing at all in Brazil for his aborted start fiasco, and re-joining the track unsafely a bunch of times.
