The question has to do why the penalty was so late
Because of a double win situation for Liberty media. The final fight is at the last race, and even better if Ferrari wins it.... As a Mclaren fan, i am dusgusted with this....
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows
On the Multiviewer live timing it was flashing and changing flags every couple of seconds. It is an incredibly hard penalty. Also the whole "lift for a split second" to be legal seems to be such a stupid rule that it's hard to take it seriously. Norris did not catch up significantly to Verstappen that lap. It's truly mind boggling type of penalty.
Giving a 10 second stop and go penalty 10 laps before the end after a safety car restart - really insane.
Still 20 points should be a comfortable lead as the car will again be good enough in Abu Dhabi and I doubt Ferrari can do an 1-2 with a good Red Bull and Mercedes.
I thought that "1 place penalty" from yesterday was the worst Formula 1 has become this days. But 10 seconds stop&go for a yellow flag infringement is something that blow you mind.
If thet want ti make the WCC up to the last race they should have told us and we skipped the Qatar race.
The Qatar stewards, I don't know their names and I don't give a sh1t about them, but they were this weekend huge sh1tty 1diots.
21 points ahead (if no other penalties are applied, which they might be given how big these penalties were), it's a solid cushion but not comfortable.
At least we hold it in our hands. If Ferrari gets 1-2 + fastest lap they can gain 44 points. To be level on points we need 23 points. That is P3 (15) + P6 (8).
Stewards should have given themselves a penalty for allowing racing to go on with a wing mirror on the start finish straight. It was an obvious accident waiting to happen. You don't need to be a genius to figure it out. We are lucky no one had a big crash because of it.
So instead of throwing a short VSC or a 2-3 lap SC we got 2 punctures and a longer SC with going through pits until it was cleaned up. And then Hamilton gets drive through for pit speed infringement and Norris 10s stop and go.
