For what?AR3-GP wrote:Piastri might have a penalty on the way.
Some sort of infringement in the pitlane entry before the start of the race (something to do with overtaking Hamilton in the entry, and Hamilton reported it).
Nah, before start it'll be a monetary fine and a warning
Sainz (To me this sounds like he just got unlucky on a kerb)I don't think we were conservative. I think we've been perfect today, truly. Unfortunately, today the issue wasn't strategy or tire management, but simply the pace. No pace. When it's like this, we have to make the best of what we've got, and I believe we did that.
I'm really satisfied with today... though, of course, you can never be 100% satisfied when you finish second. But on a track like this, I think it's a strong result. Honestly, we've never said this outright among the team, but I have the feeling we all expected to leave this race with fewer points compared to McLaren. Instead, it was the opposite. I think that’s a great sign—we're still in the fight.
We have to win next weekend. First and second. We've never won in Abu Dhabi, but I also never expected to win Monaco this year. There's a first for everything.
Well, I said yesterday, didn't I? We have to wait until Sunday to judge the weekend, nobody expected us to cut points here. Fortunately Charles had a solid race without any problems, which allowed him to get the maximum today. And meanwhile I, well, even with all the problems we had, we finished sixth and we were able to score points, so in the end the day was not so bad.
Today our side of the garage lost more than we gained. We were running in a good position behind Charles, and we had a puncture right as I was coming around the last corner. I didn't have time to come in the pits, and I had to do a full lap on a punctured tire.
About how the puncture happened, the reality is that I felt the puncture before the last corner, it was around the last corner and and I think there was no debris there, but I don't know. I don't want to blame anything that if I don't know."
Agreed. It was better than Ferrari could've dreamed of, yet still worse than it should've been with Sainz failing to pass Gasly, which would've gotten him within 5 seconds of Russell and thus a promotion to 4th.f1316 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:16I think we have to consider this a huge victory. I missed most of the race - so I don’t know all the ins and outs - but the bottom line is, as I said after Vegas, we had to somehow leave Qatar with more points than McLaren. After the sprint that seemed nigh on impossible so the fact it’s the case is mega for Ferrari, even if winning the WCC will still be hard.
We’ve said in here for a long time that Abu Dhabi will favour the car and so I think everything is possible. Even last year, with a dominant Red Bull, we had decent pace in AD so excited to see if we can snatch it. Either way, getting this close is a huge result after last year and a great platform for next.
Sainz surely had damage from driving with a puncture, it was the floor according to Sky. Can't fault him for that.bananapeel23 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:18Agreed. The pace today was still disappointing relative to McLaren but compared to the SF-23, yes, we can only be proud of how much they've improved.
Strange that neither Sainz or Vasseur said nothing about it in the interview.SoulPancake13 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:44Sainz surely had damage from driving with a puncture, it was the floor according to Sky. Can't fault him for that.
I'm not blaming him. I'm just saying that it was unlucky that he didn't get past Gasly. Although him losing position to Gasly on the restart was actually on him.SoulPancake13 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:44

To be fair Leclerc also lost a position on one of the starts. The car was a handful at T1 in particular.bananapeel23 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 22:08I'm not blaming him. That would be a lot more likely if his team mate allowed him anything this year.AR3-GP wrote:The Perceval can do the funniest thing next weekend.
Would Charles win on the count back if they tie?
