I am not sure if Max was just the .... he is and wanted to derail George as much as he can. In the race Max was flawless, George messed up the start. So I do not see that Max was "unnerved". I rather think he was angry and had a clear agenda.

I don't see how George is a competitor to Max this season. There is no end game as Max was already champion.
It was all unnecessary going public in the first place, thereby making it clear it was George that got under Max skin, right?

This comment I do not understand at all. Max was unhappy that George was "fighting" in the stewards room. I do not read that anything was wrong, they just disagree on what is ok...do you see this differently?

Russell is a decent driver but realistically his only weapon against the Dutch one is his mouth. He certainly can’t do it on the track. Most drivers come to this understanding.

The guy watches Max drive a god tier run to the championship in a slower car and claims Max can’t handle adversity…lol. His reductive arguments are befitting of haters on a forum, not president of the GPDA and statesman of Mercedes-Benz AMG.

Not going to hold it against Russell because he’s still a top driver who is showing a 7x WDC the way forward. He’s just been a bit rattled by the defeat in Qatar and a growing resentment towards the superiority of the Dutch one.

I feel this whole god tier run story is extremely exaggerated

Max was super lucky that as soon as Redbull dropped off, 3 teams got faster at the same time and all took points of each other. They also happened to have 6 accomplished drivers, which made things balance out even more. When Redbull were fast, all he had to do was beat Checo to the win. This is not Max's achievement, it is good fortune.

It was ofcourse a good season from him and he is the deserved champion. But the story does get exaggerated quite a bit.

Max went public with zero sum game. He wins nothing by this, and reducing the aspect of criticisms to George's position and team, should be also then be expanded to Max as drivers world champion and statesman of Red Bull.

There was zero in favour of Max going public. And if what he said to George is remotely accurate, you know 100% that Max was rattled. Beating George and suggesting "rattled" is neither here or there given that Merc weren't exactly favourites for the race. A fact backed up by the data. Let's not conflate that.

Regarding Qatar quali, I think George caused the situation on track and then tried to use that to get his classmate suspended in the principal's office. It worked. Obviously Verstappen didn't take too well to that and he has a tendency to get foul mouthed in those situations. That being said, Verstappen won the battle on track, and that is the most important bit. George talked the talk but it was Max who walked it.

Didn't want to be discussing Max in this thread, and I have nothing against your perception of how good/mediocre/lucky his performance is as a driver this season.

I just want to point out one omission in the below text :

Post Miami (the de facto 'marker point' in the 'which car is fastest' arguments this season), Max has won 5, and the next best string of victories is 3 each by LeClerc & Norris. I think there could be some 'merit' in that.
