It's only some Sainz strategic magic that can stop McLaren now - that would be an irony if he managed something like that! But it's not at all realistic now with Leclerc starting P20 on this track. Get the champagne ready!
Sainz cannot risk damage against our cars. Both guys should be aggressive in shutting him down if he attempts to overtake. Any type of crash that takes out one McLaren and one Ferrari is massively in favor of McLaren WCC chances. We would only need 4 points to be certain of WCC. Sainz also needs to think about Verstappen with nothing to lose. Leclerc is going to need a stellar drive to come close but he could become a factor if the race is chaotic.

I think Piastri and Norris have learned how to defend against other teams at start and hopefully they can execute a clean race so masses of McLaren fans don't get heart palpitations.

If Sainz DNF’s Leclerc would have to win the race to turn over the 21 point lead, even if he took both McLaren out with him

Exactly. Sainz has plenty to lose if he tangles with McLarens. Team just can't crash into each other or DNF in other ways.

But I think Sainz is a fair driver and I don't think he'll risk it all. Max may even overtake him at the start.

The way I see it, Carlos will probably not give a hoot about Ferrari and their WCC aspitations tomorrow. It is his last race in a competitive car for quite some time, possibly ever; he will want to go for the win at all costs.

Great qualifications by both Drivers, front row lock out is always the best option to finish the season, especilly when you are in a fight for a championship. I hope they bring both cars safely home tomorrow so we can win our first title in many many years, its been long overdue.

Come on guys, COME ON!

This is it guys ... tomorrow is the D day. 😂
It's been 26 years ... Last time our team took the title I was a kid at primary school... Today, in 2024, I teach at the University 😂😂😂. It's been so long, it's mind-blowing. All those seasons behind Merc, Red Bull, Ferrari... GP2 engines... failures... I though it would never come.

Let's hope our boys finish the job tomorrow, so we celebrate like there's no tomorrow.

Cheers! and Good luck!🍾🧡
A quarter of a century. It's nuts.
I started watching F1 in 1997 and immediately fall in love with this Team. It is crazy to think I was 11 years old when they were last champions in the constructors, I'm now married with family .... so many thing have happened, if we manage to secure the chip tomorrow it would be amazing comeback story, on the level of a Hollywood movie, just think were we were few years back, heck just think were we were race 1 of this season (not to mention last years race 1)

Yeah it's hard to believe that through those gorgeous chrome and red Vodafone days McLaren didn't steal a WCC with Mercedes engines and great drivers like Lewis, Jenson, Fernando, Kimi, Juan Pablo. Crazy! Could McLaren be on the tip of a period of dominance? Red Bull and Mercedes still seem to be baffled by the regulations and how to get the Pirelli tyres in the window while McLaren are consistently chipping away and making the changes work. Good luck to the team tonight!

I keep seeing things that were a quarter of a century ago. I'm middle aged and this statistic is just another reminder of how quickly it all passes!

I was looking at the stats and we are 3rd in constructors wins. if we win today we are joint 2nd with Williams on 9 wins, with Ferrari on 16. Wouldn't it be great if we could at least close this down a little this year and next. WCC might not be as glamorous as the WDC in that specific year, but in the history of the best teams, it is the marker.

You're a youngster... I started watching my countryman Jody Scheckter in mid 70's... I was 10...

Became a McLaren Fan in 1988 - Senna... Lots of ups and downs... Sooooo Glad We're Back... :D :D

It's Sainz' last for Ferrari, who knows what his priority is. Perhaps he's all in on the win today. I certainly can't imagine he'll be playing it too safe.

Never met my hero Bruce McLaren as I was still at school in NZ. Denny Hulme as reigning World Champion signed for McLaren for their first serious F1 season, 1968, in papaya colours, car carrying the number 1, the M7A was a very competitive car being second in the constructors to Lotus with three wins. It's great to see this third major McLaren era producing greatness. 1966-80, 1981-2017, 2018-24. Will this era produce McLaren champions in both drivers and constructors championships as the previous two eras did?

Today is the day the streak from 1998 will finally end if everything goes as intended.

Don't jinx it. It will be a normal and good start to turn 1-2 at the first turn and be 1-2 at the end of the first lap with a distance.
