Also Max now on 8 penalty points. He'll have to seriously calm down if he doesn't want to get Magnussened, but I think he'd still rather sit one out than change his approach.

Those crashes happen. Max clearly was only interested in the win. He has been on the receiving end of these moves too. Russell in Baku understeering into his side. Hamilton in the famous silverstone one. Anyway like I always said, it is up to the car sticking the nose on the inside to keep it clean. Deserved penalty, people will still fear Max which will help next year.

Optimistic move - agree. But I think a bit of lap 1 turn 1 should have come into it here rather than the penalty.

Not much out the way given there was nothing to play for

Bit of an unnecessary move from Max, pathetic penalty afterwards, but again, who cares. Glad these absurd penalties didn't interfere with the championship.

Onto next year, which will be a different story I fear.

I'm worried about him being targeted next year for his 'stupid idiots' comment. Or can they give him ao sort of fine for that?

That T1 lunge was daft imo, I don't understand why Max still has to pull of these all or nothing moves when nothing is on the line. Seriously, take a chill pil. He could have fought with piastri and carlos later in the race by just slotting in behind oscar.
It was a terrible move, with nothing at stake in the race. Could have fought for the podium (not sure whether it was achievable, but could have tried) by staying P3. He had already made a place on Sainz before T1.

Mclaren thread is full of words like 'dutch pig' 'wdc bastard' etc etc... and it was comic relief to read them. Mclaren fans have waited for many years, they deserve the delirium. Past 16 years dominated by just two teams.

Its embarrassing reading that thread. Yet its the RBR that are the baddies or the bullies or the fanbase causing all the toxic behaviour. LOL!!.

Mods going to have some serious cleaning up to do there looking at some of the reported posts.

Well there is some frustration in the mclaren forum, losing a wdc with a wcc winning car hurts. We have seen it in the merc threads as well. They are still coping with it.

Who cares anyway. If it helps these people to vent their frustration in this way, have at it.

I'm glad Verstappen apologized to Piastri. It was just a bit unlucky with his understeer, but whatever. The same Piastri crashes into a Williams shortly after, it happens.

Disagree on the pathetic penalty. It's been shown countless times that a 5 second penalty for something like this isn't a hindrance many times and if it means keeping the position but getting the penalty it's usually worth it by race end. That effectively encourages drivers to play bumper cars. At least 10 seconds encourages drivers to be more clean under threat of a penalty that will actually affect their race.

Max will have to learn how to race in a pack of other cars without always hitting them. If he can't do that then maybe he isn't as good as everyone thinks he is

The only miscalculation in the race today was Oscar not giving Max more room. Oscar had far more to lose in that collision and brought a lot of jeopardy into the WCC fight. It was silly not to yield

Who cares about today, Max brought the WDC home. We had equal pace than Mercedes in this race. Ferrari, Mclaren were just quicker. But I didnt expect two wins in the last races, quite an improvement. A year started well, and ended well. But we need to improve in many areas for 2025.
