So... thats the end of 2024.

Who would have imagined finishing P6 after Bahrain and blooody slowest car.
The team did a good job to first... lose weight and then put some performance in the car.

The last races Alpine was clearly ahead from Williams / VCARB / Aston and Sauber and on pair with Haas (but with better race car in my opinion). So P6 is fully deserved!

Strategy was also much better second half of the season.

The most problematic are still Pitstops - much slower than competitors and Alpine was often loosing positions during boxes.

Still, there is a clear gap to top4 where the team was in 2022. I still don't get it what happened after that very good season.

But what about Doohan? That was the weakest debut I remember for a long time. Bearman / Colapinto / Lawson - they showed how to debut. What do you think?

You're right not a very strong showing. We'll see how he does next year.

He was driving Ocon's car that's an older spec in the last few races. Can't remember why , but the difference was obvious before Doohan.

He kept it on the track, finished the race and racked up a bunch of laps in the car under race conditions. I imagine those were the exact instructions given to him before the race. Nothing for him to get out of that race other than the experience of laps in the car. The last thing the team would want was for him to crash or damage the car in a pointless battle for 16th on the first lap.

I have no doubt he will come out and be competitive next season when it counts.

Not sure about that. There were differences since Texas but Alpine says that by the end of the season cars were the same (most likely in Brazil) - the only difference was experimental from wing in Gaslys car for Abu Dhabi.

However they used totally different setup.

Where must Alpine finish next year, where in 2026 and 2027?

Briatore: Alpine must always be in the top six next year. Maybe a podium every now and then. To achieve this, we have to improve our car. That should be possible. Aerodynamically, we have much more room for manoeuvre than Ferrari or McLaren. In 2026, we want to be on the podium in 50 per cent of all races. Then you automatically win one or two races. In 2027, we have to be in a position to compete for the title.

Well… lately he was saying that podiums were the target for 2027

I always find this very ridiculous, that kind of target or communication.

- this year they finished P6 with the P5 car at the end
- so goal is to keep P5 next year, which is already a big challenge

For next régulations just hope for the best as everyone

Agreed, f1 is unlike any other sport in that regard. An F1 team never really knows going into a season how much you have to do. Obviously, the teams that are not in the top 4 have a better Idea but you never really know how much faster any of the top 4 teams will come back with to start the new year.
