I always think Mark has a few good nuggets of information- like how Lando went purple in the middle sector doing pitstop practice which I missed.

However, what data was he looking at to have Lando slower than Leclerc AND Antonelli in the second stint?

Incredible. This is what passes for top tier journalism in this sport? There were fans in this forum keeping track lap by lap who gave a better overview of the data than this excuse of an article.
One of the comments highlighted the error and he's corrected it.
He has indeed, now his article makes more sense and brings him inline with everyone else’s thinking…. Apart from Lawrence Barretto

A quick look at the telemetry on my mobile suggests it is the low speed corners that we are stronger in through all phases of the race sim. This is mainly where our time is found.

Engine modes etc won't affect this, only fuel loads.

Feels like fuel loads are likely to be close, so it feels like this is the first major improvement that can almost be confirmed for this car.

Given the cars are comparable in other areas of the race sim, this does suggest that we may ebb and flow at different tracks.

Bahrain may flatter us, so my advice is caution, there's a long way to go.

Lando does not look like hes having much luck with whatever setup they have him on currently, seeing as its his last day I guess they doing some quali sims, not fully quali fuel perhaps and I know the wind is up but yikes it looks a handful,

Just came on here to comment the same thing. has taken him about 4 aborted laps to set one time. Not too sure where they have the car but it seems very unstable on the rear.

They are most likely just trying some different settings to see if there's anything surprising.

Time and again teams find a setup option late in a season that suddenly unlocks a tenth or two, with the results being unexpected from some slightly more exotic setup choices.

The track seems to be very slippery/windy at the moment. All cars (VER and LEC included) are making mistakes. Still, NOR managed a decent lap on 3rd or 4th hot lap of what will be a soft tyre.

Temperatures are much higher today, track 32C at the moment. Yesterday it was under 20C track all day.

This car doesn't seem as sensitive to wind changes as it was previously...I could be wrong but it seems planted no matter the windspeed.

We shouldn’t expect Lando to do another race sim should we? Just the one yesterday will be his one and only?

Probably not. It's too early in the day so not really useful. Ruth Buscombe also said it's quite hard for the car to do two race sims in a day. I expect Piastri will get his race sim later today.

But Norris is out on a hard tire now.

Probably doing a practice session race sim, 12-15 laps and similar a picked fuel level depending on what stint they want to test.

What was interesting to me was hearing Palmer say that Renault used to do "low fuel runs" in testing with 30kg of fuel and that he thinks they were on lower range of it.

I watched Lando's second sector yesterday and today on the long runs. And it was the best sector anyone had, even today Lando did it in 40.0, Kimmy was closer with a time of 40.9.

Car didn't look particularly nice today with the hotter temps to be honest. Don't know if they were messing around with different setups between runs though.
