Leclerc:

The second lap I did wasn't that good, the first one was better and more representative. Otherwise, there wasn't much more in the car. It was very, very difficult to drive. Before qualifying, it was difficult to tell where we were because nobody was pushing. We knew we would be behind, but given how good the car felt yesterday, we had more hope for today than what we ended up getting.

Hamilton:

I generally feel good. It's been a lot of work to adapt to the car. It's really different to what I've had in the past. We didn't expect to be 7 tenths off however. Since I've never driven a car like this in the rain, that's what I'll spend tonight learning about.

Vasseur:

We lost pace between Q2 and Q3, but this isn't the end of the season. Let's just see what happens, though it's true we lost performance from yesterday to today. The 7 tenths between us and McLaren isn't representative, it's because we weren't able to complete proper laps in Q3.

Leclerc just said on Sky they had to change "something" and they lost performance because of it today, but they believe it's the right decision still. No idea what this "something" is... maybe the floor?

He also said the small condition change in Q3 unexpectedly threw them out of their operating window.

From what Rosario tweeted, sacrificed quali performance in expectation for the rain tomorrow. Dutchessa says it as well

As feared McLaren has a clear advantage over everyone at peak performance. The VER factor is always strong enough to limit the damage
Ferrari bad Q,
compromised settings in favor of tomorrow, you can see it in the data and Leclerc has 'admitted' it

I thought Leclerc only did one lap in q3? His second lap was aborted no? What is he talking about?

I wonder if Lewis is leading the car to oversteer more but it isnt the right way to go with it.
I missed Qually but just reading the results.
Charles is usually on peak form in qually. Maybe the car needs more getting used to. I would not write the season off just yet.
Everyone else aheas of Ferrari had continuity from 2024; Mclaren, Max, George, Albon, Yuki and it's not by chance. There is still hope as the car looks like it will have good baseline pace.
It'a just out of balance when pushed. That can be tuned out.
For Sure!!

Seems like it's very difficult to extract laptime from this car from lap to lap.

Hamilton had his PB Sector 3 (a 32.2, the third fastest) on his Q2 flying lap with used softs. His Sector 3 on his final Q3 lap was 3 tenths adrift.

Looking at the telemetry, it looks like the bulk of time loss to McLaren was on corner exit. Ferrari really struggles to put the power down. Something we saw in Bahrain testing as well. Huge delta to NOR on the exit of T1, T4, T10, T13, T14.

On top of that HAM generally more conservative in high speed corners (T6, T12 in particular) - probably doesn't feel totally comfortable with the car yet.

2026 it is.
Vasseur can talk as much --- as Binotto but best decision is to start working on 2026 today.
I knew it from way back when it got confirmed that we are changing car a lot especially suspension that this season goal again is not championship

Such bad pace but at least Hamilton was close to Leclerc. Arguably faster if you use the best sector times.

It will be interesting to see the race because Hamilton was the slowest of all cars on the straight. So either he was just doing a bad job at something or has the most downforce setup biased to non-dry conditions.

I am shocked at how easily this thread swings from 'wow' to 'sh&t' from one session to another.
How can it be judged '2025 is gone, over to 2026' based on a sample size of one (that too with the race yet to be run) ?

Embarrassing performance. In the third sector Leclerc was slower than his FP2 best lap. Never seen something like this, awful.

My personal copium is that they're thinking hard about the rain tomorrow and the bad performance in S3 was because they were putting more temp into the tyres than the others, which will be useful tomorrow.
