The car is absolute junk, this team is washed, they should have given Newey 200 million a year to come to Italy. Get Vasseur out and someone call Horner or Stella

Don't forget that both Hamilton and Leclerc is washed too.

I can't even properly enjoy a Ferrari pole on here because it instantly devolved into bashing Leclerc. Oh well. Extremely happy with this result, hopefully they can translate it into a 1-2 somehow but just a double podium would be stellar.

That's axiomatic

Good result confirming the car isn't a total dud at least. Still think McLaren are fastest but they are not as clinical as Red Bull, making their superiority less consistent. Lewis drove a great S1, the onboard of his pole lap is very nice.

Vanja, you have to put a "PS : sarcasm" in small font somewhere below such messages. Some of the guys will believe this is a 'real' comment. :D

Redbull has been only 50% consistent. For years. They are like a paralympic athlete competing in the main Olympics. Fighting a losing war with only half the team up for a contest.

Clearly Ferrari is cheating, they used their time at Fiorano, where they returned yesterday, and made it look like they'll be racing in china in the sprint from pole.

FIA needs to look into this, unacceptable.

would love to see data where this car is quicker compared to last year. charles said they need to work on low and medium, but high speed is improved a lot compared to last year.. is this visible in data?
I always said Charles isn't the level as Sainz/Lewis on setting up the car or moving the car into the window to make it perform. Its interesting lewis actually said car is "not bad" in slow corners -so who do you believe?

I think it showed today Lewis's car was very well behaving, so Ricci and Lewis got the set-up bang on.
But Charles is going to out-qualfy lewis over the season -As he is the fastest over 1 lap NO DOUBT.
I laugh when pundits claim who is the fastest over a lap without every driver pairing up across the grid for an objective conclusion.
I think Norris or Charles are, but its just gut feeling. Lewis once was, and maybe he still is with the right car to his liking?
Just saying it's not impossible for Lewis to beat Charles in qualy over the season.
I am pleasantly suprised with the pole, the car seemed strongest in sector 2 in fp1. But lets see how it goes over a race distance. McLaren seem half a second faster under normal race conditions.
For Sure!!

Vasseur told me in utmost confidence they are cheating so bad and so much, but he's still disappointed with winter development

Indeed. Charles should focus on his music and Hamilton on his movies and jewellery.

I’m not entirely sure that McLaren is 0.5 faster than everyone else, I think about 0.2 on average, but again tomorrow McLaren will win in the sprint and qualifying, but I think in terms of development Ferrari has the greatest potential

Lewis is just a marketing exercise. He's not in Ferrari to win. Elkan has rocks in his head and this pole is just to sell more Ferrari Purusangues in China.

Jokes aside, this is just 1/3 the battle. I am kinda nervous about the sprint race. :(
For Sure!!

Good performance.

They need to keep pushing if they want to challenge McLaren all year but season is long so I have hopes!

Again overreactions. This is no proof Ferrari is ”there” completely, it’s only proof that they weren’t as bad as they were in Q and R in Melbourne. They have a package with high potential, but there will still be ups and downs, likely even during the remaining sessions this weekend. Really good for Hamilton’s confidence though, not so much in relation to Leclerc, but to feel he still has the speed. He is an emotional driver, sometimes in a bad way but just as much in a good way, and this will light the spark for real again I’m sure. Will be super interesting what they can do from here.
