The complaints about the RB21 and the balance - or rather the lack thereof - continue, even though Red Bull Racing has just taken a win with Max Verstappen. At Suzuka, the reigning world champion managed to surprise in qualifying with pole, after which he had enough speed to keep both McLarens behind him in the race. "If we are in the right working window, we can – in combination with Max's extraordinary class – win, and even on our own," notes Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko in conversation with Kleine Zeitung. "But there is definitely more to come."
After qualifying at Suzuka, Verstappen stated that his team is struggling to find a 'normal, constant balance' in the car. "We are looking for that, but in qualifying we still hadn't done it," said the 27-year-old Dutchman. When he analyzed his pole lap at Viaplay, Verstappen mainly pointed to the amount of understeer in the first, twisty sector. According to Marko, there is a lot to be gained in that area. "The car needs even more balance and still understeers too much right in the middle of the corner – Max doesn't like that at all," the Austrian explained. "If we solve that, he can show a lot more. That's exactly what we're working on right now. When and how that will work, we cannot yet say."
