Alonso said after the race, "We have to get used to it. It's going to be very difficult to score points all season."
This is not the first time he has said this, perhaps a hint that nothing major will come out of the factory during this season? or trying to put some pressure on the team
i mean, its sorta just common sense. even if we bring good upgrades, everyone else will bring upgrades too, and the likelihood that they'll be scoring easy points is a bridge too far unless the top teams start crashing into each other. on normal weekends only 3 points are available anyway. lets hope for more Australia haha
I don't think it's a tit for tat thing. Their floor is very basic. There should be a HUGE gain to be maid there.

yeah i would love to get a huge boost with the upgraded floor. i have just learned to not get my hopes up too much. its lead to disappointment for 2 years now :)

There won't be any upgrades from their own wind tunnel before the summer break, or maybe not at all. They had continously correlation issues in the last 3 year just like Mercedes. So i don't know why this year would be any different. If coming new parts from AM windtunnel, then is will take 2-3 months and almost May...

they may as well bring back the amr24 at this rate. at least we know the performance is guaranteed to be better

I think it is the amr24, with a basic floor to figure out where they went wrong.

I know people don't feel the same way as me, but I consider it a blessing in disguise. Being 9th or 10th team in the counstructors by summer break means more wind tunnel time for Newey.

If we could not fix the existing issue how the tunnel time will help.... we will be wasting the tunnel time again in 2026.... First they need to identify and fix the issue in 2025 car so that they can have some trust with there current tools... without improving current car, 2026 will be repeat of what we are seeing now.

He got to work right away'
"He (Adrian Newey, ed.) is a designer of racing cars – one of the best," said the Aston Martin CEO. "From day one, we made sure that his workplace was ready. He was present at meetings about the new regulations and the concepts we were working on. In doing so, we have also set all deadlines for providing information about the development of this car. He actually started making sketches right away.".

Although Newey has plenty of time to work on 2026, Aston Martin must be careful in allocating the available resources. As a result, the future AMR26 now takes up more time in the wind tunnel. "He's in that cycle where he's designing the fundamental aspects of the car," Cowell continued. "About 90 percent of the production takes place in the factory, so we want Newey there as well. He has his office there, and everyone who walks by says that he is glued to his drawing table. He doesn't go to reunions, he doesn't respond to emails – he's just busy creating a fast car. And we all want to help him with that."

Basic is a keyword there. They are missing a big chunk of performance from the floor due to not actually understanding the concept they originally copied. That’s why the updates went nowhere and why with Newey (the ground effect architect) we can be reasonably optimistic we will make big gains with the Imola floor update.

When the numbers is always wrong, and half of the season you spend to figure out where is the problem in the wind tunnel, in the simulation, in the cfd, then of course they go nowhere just like Mercedes didn't went nowhere for the first 2 year! Actually they had the biggest problem from the begging with dolphin effect. Even Newey would pull out all the hair when the simulator telling you you are 2s faster but actually you are 2 sec slower. Imola floor is to early to come from AM windtunnel and designed according to AM windtunnel data. :S

The floor update is coming from the new tunnel. They only just signed off the floor update to be produced. The New WT has been active for almost 8 weeks or 2 months. All that time it was running the AMR25.

Do you have any source, all news reported are conflicting.

Good article. We also cannot forget that Newey started two months later than everyone else, so every second is critical for 2026.
