I don't think that was the problem. S3 is not bad on the 2nd run. Within 1 tenth of Antonelli and same as Piastri with used tire. Max set purple S1 on the used tire that was unbeaten.

2 tenths in second sector -- potentially improvable with fresh tires -- maybe even S1 a bit more.
Could be referring to downforce level. The others are quicker on the straights. Maybe they will pay in the long runs.
Max will have a tow. The extra downforce is not just for 1 tenth gain in S1. It's also for protecting the tires.Juzh wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 23:31Kinda meh result.. Hard to see Max is able to overtake anyone with this boat on the straights. Antonelli will get eaten by both mclarens and max will be stuck. They're giving away too much on straights for a measly 1 tenth gain in S1. It will be difficult to compete in the long run with a constant straight line deficit.
Think Max would have been closer with a fresh set and a single push lap; he was just 0.100 off both Kimi and Piastri before T17. Only Mercs are faster in a straight(2-3kmph), Max had the similar top speed as Piastri, so not too bad. Max was quite good out of the chicane on the kerbs and turn 16.Emag wrote: ↑02 May 2025, 23:30Max is flying on T1, absolutely mighty through there and no other driver got close (except Kimi on his final lap, but still not as good). Practically he makes that entire S1 gap to the others in T1.
On his second run T11 and T17 were bad, but it's hard to know if it's just down to car or poor tire condition. Straight line speed, although better than in practice, was still down relative to others, so it is indeed going to be a weakness for this weekend and not just a practice sandbagging thing.
