Shameful performance.
I keep repeating that Fallows and Krack are lucky not to be sued for being con artists...

Technically, if they just put last year's floor on, it would improve by .5 @ Miami. They don't cause last year's floor had other issues.

From the Mechanical Grip perspective, if they get the floor right, they should be able to get to Merc Level. They do have the same Mechanical grip as Merc.
No, they don't. They have the same rear suspension, that's it. Different setups of the same suspension will give you different mechanical grip level, not to mention other parts and characteristics of the car.
Aston Martin currently uses Mercedes-supplied engines, gearboxes, and rear suspension components so, on paper, Aston Martin can adapt the setups to match the Mechanical grip.

But with the current car they probably tried every single possible set-up... if nothing come from the factory then they will not improve even if they match the mechanical grip

Last year Aston Martin introduced multiple floor updates so they seems to know that the floor is key area to work on.... let's see what they bring at Imola
I know what Mercedes supplies them with, we are talking about mechanical grip, not driveability or traction that's why I'm focusing on the rear suspension. Chassis, weight distribution, front suspension etc. are all different, so they don't have the same mechanical grip, track data also suggest that.
True that last year they focused on the floor, judging by the high-speed/medium-speed performance they must be ok with the current floor that they are running, at least here in Miami.

Guys you need to trust Adrian. He is the only one who can literally change a technical team from the inside out.

I'm afraid that bad performance in low-speed corners cannot be resolved that fast, it looks like there is something wrong with the mechanical grip of the car. This would confirm their constant problems with tyre wear and overheating.

Same PU, same transmission and same rear suspension. Pickup points everything.

2nd stint has been horrible
After the spin the car was flying....well that would be overstating it...Alonso was catching Gasly. All of sudden the pace dropped off. This was still on the hards...Alonso asked if there was a problem with the car. They checked and came back and said "no". Little later..Alonso was asked ro switch to strat7....That was that.

Alonso had a better car and more success with a Minardi when he started in 2001
than this year with this joke of a team and if people think things will get sooo much better next year, stop being delusional. You cannot fix so much wrong from one season to another, not even Newey can…

De La Rosa just said on Spanish DAZN that Aston does not have a exact date for the upcoming updates.

It might not be Imola...
This was Mike Krack a month ago :

"I think what we have this year, you know, considering there is a big rule change, you have more constraints financially and also resource-wise, and that is why I think you need to be a bit more careful," Krack explained to Motorsport.com and other media on the Friday of the race weekend.

"I think last year we upgraded the car much earlier and you have just more potential to upgrade your car. I think this year because of resource and because of money, you have to be a little bit more careful and that is what we have decided to do."

When asked if the team wants to ensure upgrades actually work before bringing them to the track, Krack confirmed: "Yeah, I mean that, but that is something that you... you always try to use all the tools you have to make them as predictable as possible, so that's not any different than before.

"But all in all, our car is easier to drive. Our car is faster, but now we have to make it faster in terms of competitiveness." (He lives in another planet for sure....)

And this was Cowell yesterday :

"It was important that we scored four points with Lance yesterday in the Sprint, but under normal dry conditions we don't have a car capable of competing for points right now. We need to continue to analyse where we can improve and work hard to be more competitive in Imola."

Alonso also mentioned Imola in the post race so maybe it will be Imola but maybe as you said it won't be and they plan a later upgrade.

If they delay it then it means they have a very limited working resources for the 2025 and they ask them to do what they can with what they have...

Everything thing is pointing to the Floor. The car is really well made with it's over body aero (Front wing, rear wing, sidepods etc..) and the tire management is literally second to the McLaren's and probably even better (will never find out unless they go toe to toe) (See China GP strategy where Stroll went so long and there are more examples). It's the floor that's soo bad it that is only works at a specific point during the race. Like the car is horrible in high fuel, horrible in low fuel but works well 3/4 the way there on old tires. Once the new tires go on it back to ---. Alonso pace before the crash in Australia, Stroll before pitting for mediums in China and so on is proof.

This does point to a dynamic problem with the suspension but that's a very easy fix. Just reconfigure the suspension stiffness (With the draw back of running away from kerbs like the red bull) and sorted, that fact that they still have the issue means suspension is fine, I mean Aston engineers can't be that stupid right....?. Also the car still has the traction advantage it had in 2023 .(which it lost in 2024) and one of the few things that's helping Stroll get points at least, considering how slow it's down the straights(considering the low drag design the car has got, their top speed indicates how bad the floor is) so suspension is'nt an issue. So clearly they need a new floor with a massive operating window instead of during just one window. Nothing else will change this car.

Like I have looked at the car and so did many people during pre season testing and later on(i am a mechanical engineer with experience in Motorsports, mostly Asian Le Mans and Formula Regional Asia). It doesn't understeer, oversteer or snap of or anything and infact would say it's easily the most stable car in the grid with a huge caveat. Its been the most stable coming into corners of any team but it been horrible during the corner especially medium speeds making it impossible to use the cars biggest advantage, traction. Stroll was able to keep Lando behind him cause the cars had great traction in slow corners and had the pace in fast corners, but it's widely unpredictable in medium corners making it impossible to drive and again only new floor can fix that.

They have been struggling with the floor since the first big upgrades in 2023 and it's worse than even Sauber. What ever they do they have got to let Adrian look at the their floor upgrade at the very least, because the current engineers have proved while they got most things right, no one currently in the team understands the floor so even if they bring an upgrade, without Adrian considering Enrico can't have look till July looking at it fora second opinion. I can guarantee you the team will go no where.

If you read this far fun fact. Stroll has scored more point this year in definitely the slowest car on the grid than he did last year. So yeah.....(To be fair Stroll is excellent with medium corners with his Jenson buttons style driving, but not great with traction as he is trigger unhappy(to slow to press the accelerate button), which agin is proof of just how good the car's traction is.
Halo not as bad as we thought

Well they cannot go backwards now that they are last.
I believe Newey give them all he can in terms of what to do with this current regulations cars.
Now can they use it and do something?

It would be very disappointing if they don't bring a bigger update at least in Spain (FW rule change).

They can't be that clueless, as they have all the real world data since the tests in Bahrain.

Don't have competence to talk on technical aspects of car but as they haven't got any car upgrade working in last 2 years and need Adrian acceptance for any new upgrade means they can't bring any upgrades early. Because I am sure he can't just look at only floor and provide his thoughts, he needs to know end-to-end flow of car to do that and as he is mostly spending time on 2026 car, It would be a while before he is well versed with 2025 designs and tools.

It is not linked to any Adrian acceptance, they are not brining earlier for limited resources reason, you can find the article on Mike Krack talking about it one month ago. Adrian is not concerned by anything linked to 2025 season.

Probably they will bring only one major upgrade package this year.

i assume that crash that alonso suffered due to lawson is not helping with the mitigating budget as well
