Why is Oakes the person who's rumoured to come? Asking to gather information, because I have no clue about who he is and what his skills are

He's just resigned from Alpine TP.

I know that much thankfully
But for what reason Red Bull would be after him?

I think the rest of the year is actually very simple. Forget about TDs. There's only 1 update that this car really needs. Tire cooling. That will unlock everything. I expect that Red Bull will invest a lot of time in it because they will use a similar concept if 2026 if they want to be competitive.

Just have someone at the pitwall pouring a bucket of water onto the track right before Max is turning to the start/finish straight. Max goes into it and then he is good for an other lap. Is there a rule against this?

The solution is coming mostly next race since about a year. With sometimes slightly shifting targets, but never more than three races.

No, I think the straw is the flexing wing TD. I can not see how they want to find and design the McLaren brake drum without one of these exposed by going up in fire or similar. They will work on this always, but McLaren does the same. This is most probably no 0.7sec magic bullet.

Autoracer have said multiple times that McLaren-inspired cake tins come at either Miami or imola, and they were not declared at Miami.

Probably it's not a magic bullet, but McLaren didn't behave like this in 2024 imo. So it is an innovation that is possible to achieve in one step

After reading the recent developments, I'm not convinced anymore that we will see these McLaren like ducts in Imola, unless they are only a first part of a bigger package in that zone. Reading between the lines of different sources it seems they are working in that area so Imola seems to me too early to come with a definitive solution.

Still considering this minor / don't think this is the fully new floor with diffuser/tunnel changes
It doesn't make sense to introduce a "new floor" as a physical component, including a spare, to then introduce another new floor with another set of spares 2 weeks later. Definitely not in a budget cap era.

Also, considering that they were unable to give these changes to Tsunoda, then perhaps the changes are not so minor.
Parts not brought to the track are not part of the cost cap. Could it be they did a Quick and dirty mod on just one floor to assess if they'd introduce a new floor in Imola?

As you say, a new floor is at least 4 pieces and bodywork to match.

Long interview with Helmut Marko. "Marko: ‘A lot is coming together for Max at the moment"

https://www.oe24.at/sport/motorsport/fo ... /632327526

Some Translated quotes:

oe24: The 40-second lead of winner Piastri over Verstappen ...
MARKO: ... is really a lot, and it would have been even more if Max hadn't driven ahead of the McLaren on the first few laps and slowed them down. As George Russell's third place shows, Mercedes is even stronger. So we have to come up with something.
---------------
oe24: What are the indications that things will be better at the next GP in Imola?
MARKO: That we get new parts. The question is whether this will bring us closer to McLaren. They have an incredible car, which is insanely strong in its complexity. Max's pole position - we have to be honest - only came about because both McLaren and Antonelli in the Mercedes made mistakes on their last attempt.
-------------------
oe24: But I'm sure you're also happy for Yuki Tsunoda that he scored his first point just before Hadjar.
MARKO:Yes, Yuki is getting better and better. He is the first (Verstappen) team-mate to get a taste of Max's performance. Unfortunately, he still makes mistakes when the pressure increases.
-------------------
oe24: Finally, please allow me one more question regarding your future: you have mentioned Sebastian Vettel as one of your possible successors ...
MARKO: That was once an idea of mine. But it has nothing to do with being ready to talk about, we're still a long way off. I don't know who wants to retire me at the end of the year. I certainly don't have any plans to do that yet: You snooze, you lose ...
