Very good lap from Alonso to put it P2 ahead of both Ferrari’s and only one session with the updates. Also 6 tenths faster than Stroll before the red flag.

That red flag could be handy to fine tune the car a bit more if needed. But let’s hope this isn’t the limit of the car already in Alonso’s hands. Im sure Stroll will get closer with more tries but Alonso is just able to hit the ground running to take advantage of situations like this.

Alonso now P3. Only slower than one Red Bull and one McLaren. 5 tenths ahead of his teammate. Nice!

Alonso is going out on New Mediums ...wonder if that's just to take the shine off ?

Yeah I thought we would save one for Q2 and Q3. Seems like we have a big enough margin for Q1

Imagine if Alonso had the updates in FP2. Anyway hes made my point by showing the team that giving him FP2 and extra time could have been beneficial given his pace. Both cars through which is the important thing showing the updates finally work

He had to burn 3 sets but yes he would have gone through without it. Aston Martin went in with expectations of only making it out of Q1 and burned more tyres than needed. That’s what happens when you give the faster driver the updates in p3 with no time to see what they can really do.

All running as planned, getting rid of one car will help Aston pass into Q2 XD
