Yes, finishing with a point would be miraculous at this point. Never should have stopped so early.
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I'd like to hear the reasoning behind it. Going long on the mediums seemed more important than usual, especially since they didn’t have a second set of hards. Once you're on your only set of hards, you pretty much have to wait until there are 20 or fewer laps left before switching to a fresh set of mediums to make it to the end.

Relative to Miami I think little better. Hopefully they can squeeze more out of new package in next race.
a lot better. we were 17th and 19th in qualy and slowest car in race trim.

we had very good pace on mediums at the beginning. sainz only put alonso under big pressure in one lap and we kept up with russell and lando. on the hards that was a different story. anyways new flexi wing for barcelona and high downforce package for monaco. all from new wind tunnel
Imagine a podium in Barcelona or Monaco. Hoping these updates which are expected to be much bigger improvements work like the ones that just worked

Heartbreaking to see those last few laps, amazing sprint and great overtakes.
He really needed that point for Fabrizio.
I'm sorry Fer, please keep your head up for him!

Alonso had enough i guess.... he was very frustrated never seen him drive the last 2 lap drive like that ,his hand movements and radio chat says everything. He went back.in the box fast and left a car as it is.
He was frustrated with himself. On the final lap, he pushed too hard into Turn 5, which opened up a gap and threw off his line for Turn 7. He had been hoping to make a move on TSU coming out of Turn 7.

Poor poor communication and strategy
Fernando was wrong. AM F1 were right. Staying out and boxing on the next lap was better. If they would have boxed they would have been lapped like Bearman. Bearman had to wait till the lap before the Safety car came in to get released.

To be honest, the pace on the hards are bad again.
Not sure I'd put it that way ....Definitely Sainz had more pace on new hards.

RACE PACE IN IMOLA RACE

Adjusted to fit the different strategies

Red Bull: FASTEST
McLaren: +0.095s
Ferrari: +0.302s
Mercedes: +0.519s
Williams: +0.676s
Aston Martin: +0.878s
Racing Bulls: +1.000s
Kick Sauber: +1.023s
Alpine: +1.026s
Haas: +1.203s

If true it means that a little bit more and they will fight for « best of the rest » against Williams.

This would be nice and where they should be this season

He explained later on Dazn Spain:

In 100 races 99 of them they would be p6 and p7 but they got the bad one and finished 11 and 15

Ok Thank you

P9 was on cards today for ALO without any VSC and SC. Both Williams and Ferrari's would have overtaken due to their pace.

I couldn't believe it, either could Alonso's engineer, at one point he was asking how to get MORE understeer in turn 9.
