The mandatory new two-stop rule will bring some fun this Sunday
Two stops or three dry sets?
Not the same with a red flag...
i believe its the latter. they must use 3 sets of dry tires, and 2 different types.
Not sure what the difference is ....if you have a Red flag, you're effectively stopping. That's the whole point of a red flag. Although you don't have to change your tires under a red flag, you wouldn't gaining anything by not changing the tires. Even if there was a red flag in Monaco on the first lap, everyone would change their tires.
It's a bit off topic, but I expect some of the cars at the back will pit at the end of lap 1, because then they have free air to undercut people and gain on the rest of the field driving in a queue. Start last, pit at lap 1, do a qualy run for a lap and then gain 5+ positions when others pit at end of lap 2 to try to cover? Will be some interesting strategies at least. But a system of sprinklers making the entire track wet would be the only thing making Monaco really exiting, I think. Otherwise it's mostly about Saturday and qualifying. I hope Newey can help a bit with the setup, although even he can't do miracles with the current car.

yeah basically the same for all intents and purposes. unless somebody forgets, or accidently reuses a set on accident. that would be alonso's luck haha

I presume that's the whole point of the softer tires and the 2 stopper, to prevent the queuing by giving teams options.....
We almost always have a collision on the first laps in Monaco that cause one or more cars to pit to replace a nose or something. They usually replace the tires at the same time and run till the end of the race. Other teams will just watch and see if the back markers that pitted are making ground, if they are, everybody else will pit to cover them off.
Maybe its better to pit 2 times during 1 pace car, hehe
If you're near the back, that would be a good idea. pit twice and come out with the hards. Then go to the end of the race. If you're near the front the 2nd pit stop would send you to the back, not worth it.

Yeah, if there is a safety car some of them might do a double stop back to back, that's true. You get up to the back of the field and others need to stop again.

not only some, I think. I'd expect almost everyone to do it, apart from some at the very back.
