So guys, might sound far fetched, but given this car chassis has looked to be performing really nicely this season, with power not important at Monaco and more driveability, could Alpine go and grab a surprise result do we think?
I wouldn't bet my money on it; the front of the field is so competitive that a podium appearance will come purely down to luck. I am, however, curious to see how Franco performs in his maiden Monaco GP. He's been back in a new car for one race.

The past two years, Monaco was the best track for Alpine in the early part of the season (first podium 2023, first Q3 2024).

Agree with both points - I think this is a good Alpine track however the caveat is just how closely contested the field is in quali.

We have the answer already. Its the worst car at Monaco. Bravo Alpine.

Useless team.

I think COL have got more potential than DOO

But also not cool to not give at least a full season to DOO
I like the kid, but he’s been the slowest, or second slowest driver in every session since Monaco FP1. Even in Imola he was 5-7/10ths slower than Gasly in most sessions.

Jack was at least close to or occasionally faster than Pierre fairly consistently. His main issue was his two crashes and some bad luck in qualifying. Jacks qualifying gap averaged 3/10ths, Franco’s is 6/10ths so far.

Ps, this was written before Barcelona FP3.

Very interesting video, but you have to change your preferred language in the settings. I haven't been able to do it yet. I've tried changing it, but it always ends up being American Spanish. On YouTube, in the original video, the voice is in American English with Spanish translation on screen.

He’s not going to win respect from his engineers if he carries on like that! He sounded pretty arrogant and entitled.

I found another video that shows the reason for the conversation. As curiosity, to better understand the context.

The behavior of both doesn't seem very professional: hesitation, excuses, excessive optimism...

As in the case of the previous video, it would be better to change the language in the settings to its original. It's not possible to turn off the text. By the way, the Spanish translation is very poor.

Franco is back to being the second slowest driver in FP1 (8/10ths behind Gasly), and 3rd slowest in FP2, over 1 second slower than Gasly!

What a disgrace! This looks like Marko’s hiring of Nyck D the other year! Alpine need to give Jack his seat back as at least he was a lot closer to Gasly, despite having less time than Franco in an F1 race seat!

Yep, he's lost confidence. He's practically walking with a cane, feeling his way. Instead of going in with determination, totally convinced.

I take it back. Very well, Franco: that's how it's done. From worst to best, and without breaking cars. Congratulations! You seem reborn.

He did a great job in qualifying, but something was seriously wrong for Gasly! Dead last and confused as to why, very unlike him. I’m wondering if he had a car failure of some sort.

I also looked to see what happened to Gasly, because it seemed strange to me. I didn't find anything. I'll check it again.

He says he was about to do his fast lap when half of ALB's car went airborne. Then they got into a mess, and he couldn't get a good lap in.

I was watching him do laps, and in the mess, I lost sight of him too. He also complains about tire temperature being so important, something so fragile and volatile. I agree.

I just checked the team press:
On the final set of Softs, we were just not in the right tyre temperature window and we struggled for grip and it was a messy lap with so much sliding.

Franco also admitted he didn’t do a good enough job in Q2.
