It's disappointing that Red Bull lodged a protest on this point. It taints what was otherwise quite a good day for them.
I'm sure RBR will be devastated by your interpretation of events.

To be fair, RBR dont need anyone's interpretations.

They're making it clear they will protest xyz every time they don't win.

I'm sure Red Bull have better things to do than read these kinds of comment.

It’s within any teams best interest to win.

Been plenty of teams protest a result or component on a car before. Nature of gr sport.

Doesn’t taint anything at all.

If it's within any teams best interest to win then that surely also means that Russell is perfectly entitled to try and trick Max into overtaking under the safety car (provided he does so within the rules of racing).

In my view, either anything goes in the interest of winning, or there is a code of conduct but we can't have both or one for one driver and the other for his competitors.

For me both parties tried to win on the track and it should stay there. Protesting afterwards is embarrassing (especially over something so utterly trivial in the context of the sport and the race).

There cannot be any doubts whatsoever, Red bull never hoped to take win away from Russell knowing how fainthearted the FIA race direction is. All they wanted is:

a) to clarify rules. Their driver Perez was penalised for same infringement in Singapore. They had every reason to get a clarification from the FIA why it was not worth a penalty this time.

b) to make sure a precedent set and if/when Max does something like that, he would not get penalised. And he also can do that deliberately next time and leave more than 10 car length behind the SC if needed.

It's not an easy job to score a podium with the 4th fastest car.

Seb got a drive-through penalty in Hungary 2010 for that.

I can’t see why it wasn’t penalised. It’s the same/similar scenario to when the lead car Takes over the role of the safety car before the restart, where they must drive at a steady space which isn’t erratic. You just end up with a 2020 Turkey/tucson GP style crash

Now there is precedent that you don’t have to keep within 10 spaces of the safety car.

Consistent stewarding at its finest. Only reason I can see this not being penalised is because it would take away the win from George.

Must be rare in a team, that the boss is potentially faster than the drivers.

Since 2016 he is on Thursday always in Milton Keynes in the simulator but not this time and before Canada.
He is on his yacht since Wednesday morning near Ramatuelle and since yesterday in St Tropez.⚓️🏊‍♀️🍹

Just a coincidence? Has already taken a decision to move to Mercedes probably.
