The softs won't end up being used in the race, Max lost all pace within 2 laps, whereas the mediums in FP1 held up pretty well. Max is yet to use the hard this weekend, tomorrow will give us a good indication of what the strategy will be in the race, might even see a M-H-H, the pace on the hards was pretty competitive with the mediums, temps are also going to be much higher for the race.

comparing the fuel runs between Norris/Russel/Verstappen,
- Redbull and McLaren hiding pace (they didn't even go to 8th gear in the straights)
- Mercedes are hiding lesser
- McLaren is class of the field through T6-T7 (advantage atleast 0.2s) and unchallenged
- Mercedes struggling through T4 and T9-T10 massively, compared to the other two.
- If the teams maintain the same wing levels for Q and R, then Redbull is going to blitz with straightline speed, and suffer tremendously with deg.

This looks like McLaren and Max are going to run away as a triplet from the front, and if the Redbull suffers it's usual tyre deg, Max will have to defend against the likes of Russel/Antonelli/LeClerc, for which, the straightline speed will help. The way it looks now, I can't see both McLarens away from the podium, no matter what grid slot they start from.

Seems to me that Verstappen is running a bigger rear wing than friday. So that means top speed sacrifice for better tyre life. I think it's the right thing to do.

Mclaren have 2 tenths advantage, so it'll take another norris q3 choke and probably piastri to also hit some kind of trouble for any hope of pole position.

Horner:
"We have an update here in Spielberg and will get another one at Silverstone. Updates are also planned for races 15 and 16. Sometimes it can help if you improve by just half a tenth"

Maybe a proper low-df wing for race16? (Monza)

Verstappen's long run today was a couple of tenths faster than Piastri yesterday, although probably in slighly better conditions.

Car looks absolutely awful in sector 2, would be a miracle to finish on the second row at this rate.
