While I agree with the commendation of Oscar staying close.....is everyone forgetting x3 DRS zones worth 0.7 per lap. I was also impressed he kept his tyres alive following but I'm not sure this would have been the case on circuits that dont gift the guy behind such free lap time
Logged in to say the same - it's clear the car can follow close without hurting tyres too much, though 3 DRS zones at such a short track are a bit silly, imo.

So chuffed for the whole team and both drivers, they're a machine at the moment 8)

Unlike every other race this season?

I think Oscar deserved a lot of praise here, especially so being Lando's favourite track.

I think the upgrades have taken the car even further to Oscars liking when it comes to how it handles the fronts on entry.

It was obvious from the mini sectors, in the front limited corners Oscar was SO much faster, even in Lando's dirty air.

Oh how bitter us fans can become, especially after a good race. And that was a good race. A lot of redemption. Lando showed great composure. Oscar showed he doesn't necessarily destroy the rears. Lawson didn't suddenly become useless. (Had to fit that in!) People here are still critical of McLaren for letting their drivers race, never ceases to amaze me. This was close to being a classic F1 race.

There's always plenty that goes on below the surface. Ferrari once they fell to almost 20 seconds behind matched McLaren's pace and clearly both McLaren drivers were hustling while looking after tyres. Ferrari are still an enigma! It would have been good to see how far off Max would have been, though now being a two driver race for the WDC it might ramp up the intensity between LN and OP. I can't believe that people think Oscar got the run of the back-markers. After each pitstop he had an extra two cars to overtake, and he actually lost 1.5 seconds being shoved off the track by Golden Boy II. This isn't to carp about it all, because the race was a triumph for McLaren and both it's drivers. Classic Austria!

In the midst of all of this, we should also appreciate McLaren’s driver programme.

They have two amazing young drivers fighting for the championship with a positive attitude. Bortoleto scored his first points this weekend and was part of the McLaren programme last year, and they were good enough to not hold him with no chance of a seat. Very different from how Alpine treated Piastri.

And Alex Dunne looked very impressive in his FP1 stint this weekend.

Was Bortoleto released completely to join Sauber, or is he on loan?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

He was completely released. was bummed by that since he is very good but Alex seems to be developing very well with Ugo Ugo close behind! (podium in F3 this weekend before he lost it :( to a penalty)

You never know. Bortoleto might meet with Mclaren again in the future.

Even more if he didn't screw up his Aussie race 😊

We might beat the 860 record WCC points as well.

Any news of the upgrade Mclaren is bringing in Silverstone? They said they are gonna bring something.

Somewhere heard from Mac sources that there would be additional updates at Silverstone to compliment the Austrian updates which they believe worked as expected. Looks pretty ominous for the competition. Still, can't take anything for granted. There's significant chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

It's going to be cool so the competition will probably be a lot closer.

According to Stella today at McLaren's event at Trafalgar Square, more updates sometime in the next few races.

If things stay the way they are, 1000 points are in the ballpark as well. There's no doubt that they'll hit 500 points before the summer break.
