if you put a little bit of downforce on the car it will understeer ,that car is a nightmare.pantherxxx wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 16:55Huge mistake from Red Bull, giving Verstpappen low df setup, when it's alwas raining in Silverstone. He had no chance with this setup, in these conditions.
so, red bull was actually a good car in the race, lol.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 17:56Honestly without the spin at safety car restart, Verstappen was in a good position. Lando would need to overtake him again and Piastri had 10 second penalty.
McLaren probably had pace enough to win but Max does have his moments.
As a McLaren fan I am happy that he spun.
is it because they are able to cool their rear tires better on such cool wet day? Hehe. Or we have to finally admit they just have much more grip/downforce in real race situation, at race loads, cornering speeds and ground clearance.
My point is more that Verstappen did really well to extract the most of what he was given, it's unfortunate he lost the lead but he was still in a pretty good position to challenge for the win. It's tough to say would it be enough as McLaren had best pace at the end but he still maximized.avantman wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:24so, red bull was actually a good car in the race, lol.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 17:56Honestly without the spin at safety car restart, Verstappen was in a good position. as a mclaren, mercedes and ferrari (and even some redbull) fans rightfully say )))
Seeing his comments in the McLaren thread too I actually think it was a very big compliment to Max - I think he knew Max was probably going to hold Lando up for a while in a car that was struggling.avantman wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:24so, red bull was actually a good car in the race, lol.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 17:56Honestly without the spin at safety car restart, Verstappen was in a good position. I mean people should look at where Tsunoda finished the race and look up his pace even in dry specifically before making incredibly ludicrous comments about missed chances of fighting for the win.Watto wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:36Seeing his comments in the McLaren thread too I actually think it was a very big compliment to Max - I think he knew Max was probably going to hold Lando up for a while in a car that was struggling.avantman wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:24so, red bull was actually a good car in the race, lol.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 17:56Honestly without the spin at safety car restart, Verstappen was in a good position. Like I said though I think it was a compliment of Max that he can handle that under the pressure he was on - reading between the lines of what he has said -I think he knew the McLaren was the faster car today but Max was able to make a menace of himself and make it very hard for McLaren before that Probably harder then it should have been.avantman wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:37I mean people should look at where Tsunoda finished the race and look up his pace even in dry specifically before making incredibly ludicrous comments about missed chances of fighting for the win.
It was not unfortunate he lost the lead, because it had nothing to do with luck, fortune of lack thereof. He was simply too slow and nowhere near the pace of the Mclaren. He was not extracting most of what he was given, he was driving beyond what was in that car. As Brundle noted, he was drifting if he was in a rally car there. He was 18th in low speed corners even in dry in quali on new tires. And naturally during the race with all the fuel and management, particularly in the wet all the corners become much slower than they were in quali.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:31My point is more that Verstappen did really well to extract the most of what he was given, it's unfortunate he lost the lead but he was still in a pretty good position to challenge for the win. You put a genius behind the wheel. Truly incredible driver.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025, 18:31About the car, I am always puzzled how they can go these low downforce setups and still manage to run a good race. Truly incredible.
