100%.

Red Bull slaying the aerodynamic golden goose came with consequences. Stroll will be or should be aware of that.
Besides, having Cowell work with Newey is the perfect symbiosis between aero and engine chassis integration that is coordinated from top down.
Stroll Jr and Alonso isn't a strong line up, but it might be sufficient until Max becomes available.
Trust me with a fast car, it is a strong lineup, not the best, but for sure strong. People need to stop this narrative that Max can go to any team and be the same Max he is in RB. I'm not taking anything away from Max and his mega talent, but I think he would struggle in a different car than a very pointy and direct RB. He hates understeer, and most cars on the grid have more understeer than RB. Remember Daniel? He was amazing in RB, but struggled a lot in Renault and McLaren due to the different characteristics of the car compared to the RB.
+Vettel as well.
Nah, unadaptable drivers don't stand on the podium for 4 different teams across 4 regulatory eras with 3 different engine suppliers.

Yep, Andy Cowell and Adrian Newey have more than what it takes to get to the top. Aston should be more worried about their driver line-up because everything on the technical side is looking good for the future.

Ricciardo struggled at Renault? News to me.

You are 100% trying to take away something from Max, and thinking that Max is only doing well in a 'pointy and direct' RB when that car has been anything but that in the past few years sure is something. Heck, even with the dominant 2023 car, that car was mighty, but it was still not 'pointy' in any kind of relative sense. Still fairly sluggish at the front, even though it had enough overall downforce and grip and importantly balance to give a driver confidence. The 2024 and 2025 cars have offered good downforce and all, and same sort of understeery front end, but without the same level of predictable and consistent balance that the 2022 and 2023 cars had.

Really though, Max has excelled in ANY car he's driven, which includes several different regulations in F1 at this point. Suggesting that there's any situation that Max would outright 'struggle' in is pretty wild. He's clearly been demonstrating in recent times how incredibly adaptable and able he is to make the most of imperfect machinery not to his taste.

If anything, I think where Max would be less dominating is simply in a much better car where he has teammates who wouldn't be floundering so hard because they aren't exceptional like Max is in driving around imperfections.

Just a thought, everyone is reporting that Horner didn't expect this to happen and it was very sudden.

Surely if Max had signed elsewhere, then Horner would be aware of that - even if he couldn't say so publicly at this point.

The Race are also reporting that the performance clause for Max is that he can leave if he is not top 3 at the end of July this year or top 2 at the end of July next year.

In which case Russell might under perform again in Spa 😂

He rode on the coattails of a genius, a genius that left Red Bull because of him.
No way Newey leaves RB only to be met with Horner appearing as his boss again.
I don't think Stroll Sr is that stupid.

yeah the only question i have about that is whether cowell actually plans to be TP long term, or if it was done temporarily while they are restructuring personel. the one way that we will have the answer of who caused newey to leave redbull (if any one person) is if aston were to hire horner. if they did, newey would be asked first. regardless, itll probably be at least a year before he can start working at another team anyway.
Correct me if I'm wrong but he has Krack reporting to him for race and I guess Enrico will report into him for factory stuff. Newey just does what he wants when he wants. 2 people aren't alot of people to manage.

If Honor comes in... Max will follow him. Max and Honda combination worked well in RB. I am still doubting Alonso place in AMR... Alonso and Honda will not work out...

Schmidt said that Newey was not happy that Horner wanted to reduce his working time for F1. One of the main reasons why he left.

Furthermore Horner was „the“ guy at the end, heading F1, powertrains and technologies as CEO. Like he would join AMR just to be TP of the F1 team… No place for him, Cowell is that guy at AMR.

what makes you think the verstappens would follow horner anywhere after spending the last 2 years trying to get him fired at redbull? haha. im not saying they wont work together again under the right circumstances, but you are talking like horner and jos are like old pals or something. they cant stand each other, and jos was one of horners main critics. there is a really good possibility that they fired horner in a last ditch effort to keep max from bailing to mercedes.

all that ive heard was that he was taking the TP roll to reorginize, and put people into places that they could better produce.. initially i took that as meaning that it wouldnt be perminant. but i could have taken that the wrong way. i dont know what it takes to be CEO or whatever they call his other position, but i assume he could do both, like horner and toto seem to be doing pretty successfully. i dont think they would hire horner if it would cause problems down the road getting the verstappens in there anywy.

If anything it's a return to the pre-Witmarsh status quo for team Silverstone; no more "two popes".

Stroll tested the 2026 tires today.

He didn't comment on the test, but according to Bortoleto, who also participated in the session, the 2026 tires have better grip on corner exits than the 2025 tires, improving his Sauber's traction.

Yeah well cars are expected to be very tail happy so definitely need more grip especially in traction zones. Honda already stated that with current tires the car rear tires will just spin out
Halo not as bad as we thought

It will be interesting to find out why he got fired. It obviously isn't performance, it's the first year in the last 5 that they will not win either or both of championships.

There has to be something that hasn't surfaced yet. That might change how rehirable he will be going forward.

Remember last year, with Krack as TP there was this complaining of the race team trying to tell the factory how to build the cars. That's how I took Cowell stepping in was to do. Separation of powers.

I don't think CH at AM is all that likely but who knows.

The chances of CH being at AM and Max following him are barely above zero. I don't think it's really Max;s issue with Christian than it is Jos's . If Jos and Max had a falling out tomorrow, I don't think his issues with CH run all that deep outside his dads influence

Max is a incredible driver, but, how much his talent is real? Maybe he looks apolicaptical because his teammates simple dont fit that car like Max, Will Max be as good as he was at Red Bull in a Mercedes? In a Ferrari? Would he do much differently at Ferrari than Hamilton is doing? For example? We don't know. With Horner leaving, it's very likely that Max will remain at Red Bull, and Alonso's chances of continuing at Aston in 2027 increase. Lance will never leave Aston, but, if next year they fight for championship ( i dont believe so much on that yet) even they not fight, Lance will be driving a Adrian Newey's car. He will need to show results, his excuses will be end next year.
