Big sponsorship from West probably helped. The cars didn't have an abundance of sponsors back then, but the few they did have paid well I think. Most of the money came from their title sponsors, same for Mild Seven with Renault, Marlboro with Ferrari etchaza wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025, 15:22My god that car was so bare sponsor wise Zak has done an incredible job on the corporate side of thingsMacklaren wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025, 15:05I would agree. They are trying to make a papaya livery as iconic as the Marlboro or West but their current efforts are just not memorable enough. They now thinking sticking with the current orange/black for long enough will make it endure but I think they need to make it memorable first.

I think he meant for the 2018 car not the 2006 carSiLo wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025, 16:52Big sponsorship from West probably helped. Personally I don't think the sponsors are the problem, for me the problem is the huge areas of black. And this is not just a problem on the McLaren, its a general problem with all the cars since 2022 regulations. Saving weight has been too big of a focus.Jambier wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025, 20:15I like it.Macklaren wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025, 13:40A little bit of a McLaren content sidebar while we wait for these 3 weeks to pass.
I strongly believe/hope that we switch to this Hypercar livery from next season. While the team said that they want stick to a consistent look, the livery usually gets a complete overhaul with every rules change.

The current f1 livery could be nice but … it cannot because there are too many sponsors.
With less sponsors it would be better
I regularly wonder whether they run the, massively popular, chrome liveries each year to try and tempt Google into a title sponsorship deal using the Chrome brand lolPikeStance wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025, 14:56The Marlboro livery is iconic. When I didn't follow F1, I knew that livery!
I like the papaya, but I do not think they are getting the liveries right. Their special liveries are actually better than the "main" one. I wouldn't mind seeing the blue as a highlight either (similar to the 'aqua" color on the Mercedes). I wish they used more chrome because I think it goes well with the papaya.
