Listening to Kimi and Sir LH almost hurts… what in a s******t / terrible place they are mentally.

It must be hell to see your teammate doing so well and being nowhere/helpless :? :(

Leclerc can win tomorrow. Ferrari has good straight-line speed and overtaking here is notoriously difficult.
It doesn't turn.

wind didn't start to blow 200mph
Top speed were like 7kph down compared to Q2, and that's cross-tail wind you get going into all of the high speed corners, which f*cks up your references. Both McL had a horrific lap and Charles got a good one, but the performance gap is much closer to what it was in FP3.

Charles was 6kph (321v315) slower and Piastri was 5kph (315v310) slower compared to Q2.

This just tells me Charles did a better job even more. MCL wasn't the only one with wind, and LEC, who was betting on straight line, had to go slower than his previous attempt.

The simple fact is that LEC put together his fastest lap in Q3, MCL didn't.

The simple fact is that everyone except for LEC went slower, maybe it's time to stop focusing on MCL that much.
LEC did a great job, no question about it.

If he can keep them behind in the first few laps then he might actually have a chance. Gotta drive the perfect race with perfect strategy.

He will likely need to pit early

Was you able to see Ant’s analysis on Sky? The drivers didn’t look fully on it to me
I don't have Sky.

But it doesn't really make sense. They had nothing to lose because they had good first laps. But if you have no grip because your tire prep / car is fully optimized for temperatures 15C higher, then you will look hesitant and cautious.

Lando did 1:15 flat on used tires. Oscar 1:15:2 or so. Both would be pole.
Agreed, it just doesn’t make sense.

Anthony Davidson showed us a few examples where both McLaren drivers didn’t use the entire width of the track where they previously had and they both had a wobble at the chicane in S2.

Jamie Chadwick who is punting for Sky this weekend then added that the McLaren drivers probably thought that they could risk slightly less and still lock out the front row.

Charles just did a good job- the job he exactly said he would after Spa when he said the next step is to put pressure on the McLaren boys and capitalise on any opportunities.

Bring on the race tomorrow!
Just a fan's point of view

Barring any unexpected magic from the updated Ferrari suspension, McLaren will breeze past tomorrow, either in the first stint or through the pitstops. It is clear today was not where McLaren really is and it will show tomorrow again.

He needs to keep the lead and clean air and pit as late as he can without being undercut by the closest Mclaren, Ferrari also must utilize Hamilton to help him, put Hamilton on the hards and leave him out late to create traffic for the Mclarens and not allow them to undercut too early.

It's not going to be breeze. You can absolutely defend on this track.

It doesn't turn.

Alan Permane is doing a great job at VCARB with back to back double Q3s.

A few interesting things for me.
1. Didn't realize ALO STR was a whitewash. Normally STR has a few go his way.

2. Didn't realize HAM has beaten LEC 4 times already.

3. At first was thinking that HUL has dropped the ball in Q this year, but it's close enough to think that BOR is genuinely fast, instead of HUL being slower.

Weird how VCARB has the better (more usable) car and now a better TP. They need to convert more points though. Hadjar has been in Q3 at every race.
